How do you spice up your rice dishes?

We've been trying to eat healthier lately and so that means eating more rice. Not sure why rice would be so healthy, but it just makes me feel good.
And, even though I like rice, it's sort of boring. Sometimes, I would like to spice up the rice and make it taste better.
Does anyone have suggestions for spices that could be used in rice so it doesn't taste so much like rice? Maybe I'm just using the wrong kind of rice. How do you make your rice taste better?

I have tried this once and everyone seemed to like it. I took a red and green bell pepper and sauted it, then mixed it in some rice cooked in chicken broth, and it was really good. cooking rice in the chicken broth instead of plain water gives it a good flavor.

That sounds really yummy! I will have to try that. Definitely the plain water is making our rice taste very flat. We have hard water anyway. I try to use the bottled water for cooking, but it's so expensive. Thanks for the tip.

Buy the best kind, we dont live on same place so whats good to us might not be good to your place. put in some margarine, put some herbal leaves, and put in some fresh vegetable grains. It will make another taste for you.

Try brown rice. It is much better for you than white rice and contains somewhat fewer carbs. We do eat white rice once and a while though.
One of my favorites is to mix it with salsa (like Chi-chi's or Pace Picante sauce).
You can also cook it in beef or chicken broth for extra flavor. I like to add beef broth and then just before it's done cooking I throw in a handful of sliced fresh mushrooms on top.
You can add a bit of lower sodium soy sauce with a dash of sesame oil and a bit of fresh ground ginger.
Another thing go try is wild rice if you can buy it in your area. It's very nutritious, with lots of protein and fiber. It's good all by itself, with just a little butter and salt, but if you use the beef broth and mushroom trick with it, it's even better!

Everytime I cook rice, I always put Pandan leaves. It gives aroma and a different kind of taste to the rice.
