The Commissar of Cookery

It sometimes seems that you have to search far and wide to find a TV "celebrity" who isn't a raving statist. Some of the idiots who get on TV are worse than the goons in Parliament. Take for instance the case of Gordon Ramsay, the famously foul-mouthed cook off the BBC, who has asked Gordon Brown to get a law passed banning restaurants from serving fruit and veg when they're "out of season". I doubt that even the control freak Cyclops would be insane enough to adopt that as official policy - even if he thought it was a good idea, he does want to stand at least half a chance of winning the next General Election. Here are some words of wisdom from Commissar Ramsay: "Fruit and veg should be seasonal. Chefs should be fined if they haven't got ingredients in season on their menu." Und zeir names vill go on Ze List, no doubt. "There should be stringent laws, licensing laws, to make sure produce is only used in season and season only." Do you have a license for that asparagus? "I don't want to see asparagus in the middle of December. I don't want to see strawberries from Kenya in the middle of March. I want to see it home grown." None of that filthy foreign rubbish then. Must keep the national menu pure and unpolluted by non-aryan fruit and veg. And while we're at it, make the kitchens run on time. What a ****wit.
