Do you discriminate people base on the way they look?

I don't and I don't understand how anyone can do that. But I was recently a victim of that and I began to ponder deeply why and how. Sure, fat and ugly people are not pleasing to the human eye. But no one is born to be anyone's eye candy unless they choose it as a profession. What baffles me further is how any one can discriminate strangers whom they do not know at all?

Unfortunately its even easier than breathing. I know some judgments are defense mechanisms and I can understand it in the correct cases. However, people make many more judgments than just that. They compare themselves to other people and instantly react based on the judged "value". This value can be anything... skin, hair, posture, skin colour, height, weight, facial shape... anything. The sick part is the reactions to those that do not make the cut as it were. People get stared at, glared at, mumbled about, treated with disrepect, laughed at (either alone or if they've brought friends)... its a sad situation but it happens. For some its unconscious, but for those with the cruel reactions to others, they are the ones doing it on purpose. In the end we have a colder and less welcoming society... Also some people do this based on their stage of life and based on a need to be "better" than others around them. Or this is due to an insecurity within their own personality and self-introspection. Some people know they have problems and troubles, but what really irritates them more is seeing other people (who in their miinds are supposed to be "worse" than they are) actually being better, happier and brighter than themselves. Its these people and this feeling that also drives the judgment and degrading of strangers.

Well, I don't discriminate, but I do get an idea of someone's personality by their looks. I know what I'm talking about, since there's a lot of cultures in my school. I used to dress in all black, black nailpolish, chained pants, and I wanted to prove that you shouldn't judge people by looks. It's impossible to prove that message, since it's just human nature to judge people like that. But anyways, I don't hate and make assumptions to a specific subculture/person.

I think its normal tendency of some people that they judge people on their external appearance but this is not true always. e.g. even sugarcane doesnt look good frm outside its always sweet. There are many examples, so i dont think about people till i dont interact with them and sometimes even if someone treats me like that, i just try to ignore them. As its nature's tendency to have preferce to beauty, see even kids get attracted towards external beauty.

Well I am so sorry that this happened to you. People that discriminate based on how someone looks are just ignorant. I don't discriminate against anyone. Everyone was born differently and it's stupid to pass judgement on someone that you don't even know. I find it really stupid when people do this.

Sometimes its only bad perception and old fairy tales. Like (sorry) fat man are lazy worker or something like that. Of course most of it not true. But that just what silly people do. Like I said, never judge people based on the look. You had to know them before made any judgement.

Personally, I don't discriminate anyone out of his or her looks. I believe that we are not perfect or there are many things in this life that we can not prevent on the out come of our physical appearance. For me looks has nothing to do on the person but what matters most is his or her ways of life. It is one's behavior that tends me to discriminate someone rather than its appearance. Physical appearance can change but the most difficult things to change is one's character of a person unless he or she want to change for the better.

I never judge a person at first glance. It depends on whose eyes your looking through, i know people who love fat people my cousin has always dated women with meat on their bones as he would put it. Everyone has their own perception of beauty, and what may seem ugly to some may seem beautiful to others. I personally accept others for who they are, i know that this is not a perfect world and nobody can say they are perfect and keep a straight face.

Unfortunately that is the society we live in, where it is visually based and people who are esthetically pleasing are discriminated agains. How many times have studies been done where an overweight or plain looking person goes to a job interview and is overlooked for a good looking person even though the plain person is more qualified? It's been proven that good looking people are treated better, served better, have better paying jobs than their plain looking counterparts. Is this right? No, but unfortunately, it is the truth. Sad, really.
