I have a bamboo plant that is growing like crazy. Some of the leaves on it is turning yellow. I think I need to repot it, but I don't know how. Does anyone know how or have special tips to handling them??? This is my favorite plant. Thank you in advance. my plant looks very similiar to the one in the picture except some of the leaves are yellow and its not in rocks, but foam is wrapped around it.

I was told when I got mine that you had to change the water about once a month. When I forget, the leave start to turn yello. I just dump out all the water and give it completely fresh wather and it does fine. Maybe that will help with yours. Good luck.

I believe I read somewhere that when leaves turn yellow it means the water you are using to water the bamboo is actually harming the plant. I think yellow leaves mean too much salt in the water or something else. Try leaving water out over night so all the nasties in the water go away and water the plant off and on when it needs it and see if the leaves improve.

This is not a bamboo. It is called Dracaeana sanderiana. Stores will try to give names to items for the sake of selling them. If they cared they would call it "Lucky Bamboo" and supply the botanical name as well. Many people ask me about this plant. When I tell them it isn't bamboo the 1st thing they always say is "But is says bamboo on the tag." Then I always reply "Just because McDonald's has nutrition facts on the label doesn't mean it is nutritious." Yellow or brown leaf edges may be caused by too much direct light, crowded roots, or fluoridated or chlorinated water, the latter of which can be prevented by leaving tap water exposed to the air for a day before plant use. Salty or softened water can also cause this.
