What do you actively do to support the brave men and women in our military? Even if you do not agree with everything that is happening in this world do you support them? I have gotten my whole company involved in writing and sending letters to soldiers and this year we will be stuffing 150 stockings. Just a little way to support them and to make them smile just a bit.

I served in the Marine Corps for more than 21 years before retiring as a MSgt in 1996. Obviously I did my share by taking care of my own troops while I was on active duty. Since then I've watched my son, also a Marine, head off to Iraq three times, more than any mother should have to deal with. I sent him packages as well as those for some other units, stockings at Christmans, etc. I also volunteered at the local USO where we handed mini care packages (and hugs) to the troops as they boarded the bus to deploy. I also served meals at the USO on holidays. There are lots of things that people can do. If you need ideas, there are many places on the internet where you can find information on volunteering your time or a few bucks.

From me to your family thank you very much for your service. My husband was also military and shared his time there. I do other things as well these are just a few things I have gotten our company involved with which is 850 plus, I have many ideas of what I want to do but with a company of this size I think baby steps before I go for the leaps.

Thank YOU for what you're doing! I should have said that in my first post and shame on me for not doing so. You're doing a lot and my comments about how to find out what to do were probably more directed at those that might want to help but don't know where to start.

You know I never thought about it until now I used to be a military wife and when living on the post we did lots of things to help support the families of those that were out of the country or overseas or just at training or classes somewhere else. But since I have been out and not an active military wife all I have been doing is educating people on the military .. Those who put up a fuss about those who are giving their lifes to keep us free I remind them whethter it is war or peace time we always lose soldiers and without those who are brave enough to stand up for our rights they wouldn't be able to voice their displeasure of the situation. so I guess I educate people and remind them that they are doing something that they believe in for us. I also let my kids know that to always support and be thankful for our soldiers and forces.
