Does anyone read other people's responses?!?!

When you respond to someone's discussion, do you go through and read a few (or all) the responses from others first, or do you just click on "Respond" and give your response. I think the discussions here would be of better quality if other people took the time to see what others said first before giving their response. One example was someone posted about a site that you can make money on...I responded first saying it was a scam (I know this personally), and gave some info on how they can find out it is run by a scammer. Well, the next person behind me responses that they join the site as well, and are also going to try it out!! WHAT?!?! I assume they did not read my response, so now two people are very likely to get scammed!!

I read the responses and sometimes don't even bother to leave a response. I sometimes think I am going to be the first with a response but for some reason my response ends up being second third or even the forth response. Maybe it's because they type faster or maybe it's because I'm so long winded. As for the scam I have read that some program were scams when in fact I was making money with them...I guess it may be a scam to some but not to others. I wont disagree nor will I push people to join.

This happened to me like two days ago! I was answering a discussion with no responses but after I posted I was the third poster. I guess we were all posting at the same time.

I won't say that in every case I read all the responses, but on the most part I atleast try to skim through before responding. It annoys me when people do that to me... I recently responded to a discussion where a guy had asked everyone what they'd like to dream. I was the first responder and mentioned about lucid dreaming, the third responder also wrote about lucid dreaming but left a link... my post was ignored by the author of the discussion. It did upset me that the third person to respond could not atleast skim to see that I had mentioned something about lucid dreaming, and if he felt the need, he could have elaborated on my post by adding the link. It makes me feel as if my post is worthless to the author when my post is ignored.

I am glad that I am not the only one that feels this way, it makes me feel better knowing that I am not the only one getting upset by someone ignoring my post. Thank you for responding what I have written, and I hope that this does not happen to you again.

I do occasionally but, it just takes too long so I tend not to anymore. It is amazing what things you read when you look at other people's respomses. I know what you mean about reading them, but then it is a bit of a waste of time. Oh by the way I do always read what a person has asked in the question, but not to look through all their responses.

Yes, I read responses as I'm intrested in what people have to say. Mylot has people with good responses. The responses don't seem as mean as some web sites.

Some discussions I read every comment word for word. Others I skim. Admittedly, if there are multiple pages I don't usually read the comments of every single poster.

It depends on what the discussion is about. If it's something like you described above, I generally read some or all of the answers before I respond. Generally I don't use random sites to try and make money, in my opinion they are all a scam in some way. Back to your original topic, If it is more of an opinion question, I tend to answer first, then read other people's responses after I answer so it doesn't influence my answer.

To me the whole purpose of a discussion board is to discuss things with other people and get their opinions on various topics. I like to read what other people think also, so i read responses before I post. If you don't read what anyone else has to say then it is kind of pointless to be a part of that discussion. Everyone has different views and it is interesting to find out what others think, and not just be one-sided.

I totally agree with you on that Kecia08. The discussions here would absolutely be of better quality if we took some time to read the responses, heck, atleast the first page if you don't want to read one that has tons of responses. I will read through most responses if it's something that really sparks my interest. If it has like 3 or more pages of responses I won't go through every single one but I will most of them. If it's something like who's your hero, something to that nature I won't really read them because that's a discussion where anyone can have an answer. But a discussion like you said about the money scamming questions. Yes, people really do need to be more careful and read first before responding.

I rate the discussion, always, and then I respond. If I'm feeling particularly interested, I'll read the first few responses. I'm responding to the original post, not to the responses so I don't feel the need to actually read all of them.

Usually I post my response first from email, and then read all the responses, unless it has tons of responses, sometimes I just skim through some of them. Sometimes I read a few responses before I post. It depends.

when i'm just logged in to check out the topics i'll definitely read each and every response in the discussion. but if i'm logged in to increase my money over here i'll not look for others responses ..i'll only give my response and take another discussion.in my discussions i'l definitely read at every persons response and i take time commenting on them. and i came through the very situation one time that i responded to a discussion on a site that it is a scam and the next person behind me responded again that he will try it .i don knwo whether he has read my response

Hi! I do actually read other peoples responses. If what im about to respond is the same or similar to the one who posted first I just comment on the response who came first. Im usually one of the firsts who respond to a discussion since im always hanging out at the discussions with no responses page. So I have time to type whats on my mind giving out my opinion about the said topic like this one. Then by the time im done and hit the 'post response' button Ill just discover that im the 2nd or even the 5th to respond to it. What Im trying to say that maybe the person who responded after you wasnt able to read your discussion because your post was not there yet when he started to type in his own response. By the way, did he/she immediately come after you or was it a one or two posts behind? If he/she did come after one or two posts then maybe he/she got excited that someone else was also in the program that their in. Well, thats just my opinion.^_^

well i do read the responses. i think that there is no meaning in responding if you do not read .... so you are not taking part in the discussion sincerely. also it would be like just responding to increasing the count...... i fully agree with you...... that some people do not read the responses. i myself have got some very funny responses in some of my discussions. have a nice day.

I read the first couple and maybe skim through some quickly, depends on the amount of responses.

I read tje discussions thoroughly then respond as I do not like letting others responses dilute my own thinking. after all I have a brain and can read the discussion and think for myself what I want to say. i do not think that reading others responses before imake mine is going to change my thinking. but I do read them afterwards and I have yet to have made a bad response from doing this my way.

I'll read a few responses, to get a feel to see what other people think, before I respond. Sometimes, reading someone elses response will open your mind to a different point of view, and you'll actually start to think about the topic a little differently. If there are a lot of responses, I'm less likely to read all of them. Once in a while, I am so eager to respond to the matter at hand that I skip reading others response until after I have posted - or, not at all.
