As an American citizen there are many "foreigners"here, I myself welcome people of different cultures with open arms. I believe in the freedom of speech, but I also agree with respecting the country you are in. If I were to move to France and live there I would have the respect to learn thier language. I also believe this holds true for people coming here. Communication is a big part of life and it is important for everyone to understand eachother to live in harmony. I will admit that I will get upset when I am with some co-workers and they are speaking thier language when they are not suppose to be, and this is a company policy because all of our individuals speak english and the foreign langauge is confusing to them, which can cause behaviors. When I ask them to speak english thier response is no we don't have to you have to learn our language. I think an answer like this is not only ignorant but disreprectful for our individuals. I wonder how other countries feel about this, The US is the most diverse country in the world so we are use to different languages but I wonder how other countries would be if we went to live there and we refused to use thier language, would they also feel how I do?
