I live in S.E. GA. and within a 50 mile radius in any direction we have festivals like "The Shrimp Festival" The crawfish Festival" "The Island Art Festival", " The Blessing of the Fleet". There are so many others that i can't name them . What kind of public celebrations do you have in your part of the world?

The same as you, although I'd have to drive a little further. I always liked the Crawfish Festival in Kingsland. It isn't unbearably hot when it comes around. The others I have never been too, again, the traffic situation.

the traffic and masses of people make it not worth the bother for me.

You might also want to include: The catfish festival, the Dogwood festival, the rattlesnake roundup, the rock shrimp festival, and there is also a festival geared to the swamp park but I forget what the name of that one is.

Like i said there are so many that i can't remember them all. What i am curios about is this. Is it just a Southern thing or do they have this kind of thing in the North? And what about other countries, do you guys have this type of celebrations?
