My Grandfathers home up North is a medium sized red brick home. Our apartments that we live in now are red brick. I’ve always loved the look of them. If I ever bought a home it would have to be red brick. I don’t know what it is about the look of it that I like so much but I’m definitely drawn to it. They have a lot of them around town and I love just going around and looking at them. I know it sounds crazy but I really do like the look of them. Maybe it’s b/c they are so nice and neat or maybe it’s the symbol of strength behind them. I found this pic on the net and it’s a really nice home too...I love the ivy on it as well. My Grandfathers had honeysuckle around it. Do you have a favorite type of house? Do you know why you like it so much? If you had one built or bought one would you insist on your type of outer shell that you like? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Absolutely, if I was building a house, it would be with the type of outer shell that I like. I like the look of brick houses too. My house is brick, but not the red type like what you posted. (That red one is beautiful, especially with the ivy on it!) Another type I really like is log, so if I built or am in the market again, I'll pick either brick or log.

I love old houses. The kind that are so old there are ghost stories that come with them. My fave type of house is the old style Queenslanders. They are so majestic looking and full of personality. I think these days, our houses reflect the people who live in them. They are all the same, pretty bland and just plain boring. Ok, so not everybody is like that.

I don't really have a favorite. If the home looks nice, then I like it. Brick homes are nice. I think the ones with the different color bricks are real pretty.

Is funny because I love brick like you ,but I prefer the light brick because to me it looks more expensive.

My husband and I were both raised in old fashioned wood framed homes so that's what we like. But not so sure they're the best. If there is a fire, nothing left, if carpenter ants get inside or termites, you don't have much of anything left afterward. I guess that they can be changed more easily than other types of homes and since we have 10 acres, about 6 or 7 of which is wood, our building materials are all around us. Take care

If I could afford to buy another home, other than the one that I have now, I would most certainly buy a brick house.. Brick is built for a lifetime, it is a symbol of riches, in my mind.. I have vinyl siding on mine now and it is a bit small, just the two of us, but when and if I win the lottery, I will be going brick all the way.. I will also have the ivy growing up the sides of mine.. My mother had ivy growing up the sides of her house and I would always get some when I went to visit but I could never get it to grow on mine.. I do love that look, it make you think that the people living in the brick houses are so very well to do and the home looks so comfy and inviting..

I'm with you! I love the red brick homes! I've never lived in one, but if I drive or ride by, I simply must look at them.. If they have the ivy, that's even better! I think I love the earthiness of them.. and the solidity.. seems like they'd be very cool in the summer (or more so than a regular home) and probably hold the heat in better in the winter.. But I just love the way they look!

every body has brick here it is so boring, I would love a stone house, but that is what the rich have here in Montreal and they are beautiful.

I like brick, stone , and log houses. My favorite construction would be either a brick or stone earth contact house as they are really easy to heat and cool, and they are also easy to maintain... not to mention it brings out the caveman in me.

I love houses with white columns at the front. I think it is because of the house my grandparents lived in for so many years. It's is a one story red brick house, and at the front it is held up by two white columns. It looks kind of stately, yet homey.

I actually love all kinds of architecture. I love the flat topped houses they had in the art deco style, almost boat like, with pipe railings and generally painted white. I love the Queen Anne style, Victorian style, the Mid-Century Modern of the 50's. Honestly, just about everything except the boxs that seemed to be thrown up after the war. I'd love to live in a house built with stones, bricks are okay, but I just love the look of native stone, even river rocks are fine, makes a place look like its been there a long time.

Brick has such a cozy feel to it and is durable and provides good insulation. However, I am the upstairs condo type of dweller. As much as I love my computerized flowerpots, I don't do lawn duty and am not the sort who would ever spend a Saturday morning pulling weeds (as much as I admire folks who do!) So my favorite home is not a house, but an airy and bright space on the top floor of a two or three story unit, preferably with a view. The outside is not very important to me, as long as it is modernistic and a light color, with lots of windows.

Ilike brick houses too but we see few of them around Ca but my very favorite that I would love to buy or build is a old victorian style with all the cupolas and gingerbread and big porchs and dormer windows. It would have to be at least two stories two. that is my dream house. Ilike them since I was a kid. they always look so romantic and also homey looking.
