I sure did. One of the items I got was something my daughter made in pre-school. It is a self portrait with a paragraph about My Special Mother. It reads.. My Mother is 40 years old(Not yet, few years off.)She weighs 5 pounds (Not since birth) here is where my child gets it right. Her hair is brown Her favorite color is purple. She likes Chili and playing hide and seek with me. Did you get something similar? This made me smile.

My kids are 27, 26, & 25, but I will share one of my favorite Mother's Day memories with you. They were 16, 15, & 14. The oldest is my girl and then my boys. My daughter (edgyk8inmomma) was babysitting and the boys did some odd jobs to earn the money to go to the store and get the fixings for veal parmessean and made it for me from scratch. They put our family portrait at the back of the table and got some party decoration stuff. It was a thin wire wrapped in shiney green ribbon like stuff with little runners off it with stars and hearts at the end. They put it all around the house, but then they made a three point (one for each of them) crown out of the stuff and made me wear it all day. I was working in a factory at the time and wore a baseball hat all the time. So when I put my hat on, I just put the crown over it. I thought it was pretty special for teenagers to come up with that by themselves. Plus the veal was superb.

Hehe, I remember that:) That was my first and only stab at making veal. I had forgotten all about it until just now, thanks for the reminder, maybe I oughta try out that meal again, since I already had success with it. And she did wear that silly crown all day, and I believe the most part of the next day too. My brothers are pretty artistic so it wasn't too tacky.......I guess :)

I would think that a gift made by your child is the most important on either mothers' day or father's day.

The cards that my children made for me when they were in the grade school like Christmas cards, birthday cards, mothers'day greeting cards are all kept in a special box. I plan to show these to my future grandchildren. These special gifts never fail to make me smile, with all the stick figures and roughly handwritten greetings, only a child can make. These will forever be treasured not only in these boxes but also in th deepest recesses of my heart.

I haven't sent my mom any present this year because I could not think of anything useful for my mom. I jusr called home and talk to her for about half an hour. I sent my mon some cards when I was in primary school. My sisters and I made them together. We just drew something we like and wrote down our best wishes. My mom was still quite happy with that. I think when I reveive my kid's present in the future, I will feel the same.

Yes, I did. My oldest daughter saved her ice cream lunch money, and bought me a pencil with a flower on the end from school. (Her class didn't make anything for Mother's Day because one of the student's mothers passed away just a couple of months ago). My other daughter made a book called "Hats Off to Mom" and it says "My mom wears many hats in our family. My mom is a teacher. She taught me how to cook brownies. My mom is a cook. I love it when she makes casudeas (supposed to say quesadillas), My mom is a nurse. She always makes me feel better when she tickles me. Happy Mothers Day", and gave me a marigold in a cup.

i got a lovely card from my 11 year old that states the reasons that she loves me (because i am kind etc) and that she loves to snuggle with me (she was always more snuggly than her older sister and when she was younger, we used to have our 'snuggle shows' shows that we would drop everything and cuddle on the couch to watch. (we still do that ocassionally but not as often.)

My daughter, who is in kindergarten, gave me to potted plants in styrofoam cups and a handmade card. And she made a trinket dish in art class. My son, who is in 3rd grade, informed me that after he goes to art class on Tuesday, he'll have a gift for me as well. My husband made dinner, which he usually doesn't do on days I don't have to work.

Yes, I did. I got a homemade card along with a certificate which was good for him cleaning his room. As if thats going to happen. LOL. I love him more than the world itself, but he's a slob and I can't seem to break him of it.

I did not get anything from my son that he made at school. I have no idea what he got me yet. He is out shopping with his aunt for me right now. I will be getting it in about 30 minutes when he gets home. They just called and said they were on their way.

ROFL_ I loved greeting those...they're too funny!! My daughter once said on hers that I made good toast- hahahahaha!! One of my sons did go up and make me a card (I rubber stamp and the boys enjoy doing that sort of thing, too). He did it all by himself, all of his own accord, and it's beautiful. :)

This might sound mean but I told my boys that if they ever spent a penny on a Mother's Day gift I wouldn't accept it. They have always made me things or make breakfast for me. Most of the time it turned out to be a complete mess that took me hours to clean up but they were so proud of the fact that they made scrambled eggs (oh, complete with the shells in them) or chocolate chip pancakes (slightly burned but I ate them anyway).
