Ideal weight issues

Do you believe it when other people/sources tell you what your ideal weight should be? Or do you count on yourself and your knowledge of your body and it's functions? Recently I've stumbled upon a few websites which have so-called ideal weight/fat percentage calculators and they were very flattering. I've found out that I'm not just underweight but also sickly skinny lol Nice to know but I personally would like to get rid of a couple of pounds before summer. Do you think we should follow what's normal or create our own standards for ideal weight?

I think we should strive for a healthy body fat percentage, and to resolve any health conditions we might have, more so than an ideal weight. I am only 5ft tall. I have seen some charts, though not many, that say someone my height should weigh no more than 100 pounds. I know from personal experience that when I get down to around 110 I am skinny enough. My goal weight is actually 120, because that was were I looked and felt the best. This is the goal my doctor wants me to achieve also. If I can reach my goal weight I will be ok according to most weight charts. Although I will be close to the upper end. I know that it will help my diabetes and other health conditions, and that is my main goal. I think you should consult your physician and make an informed decision with them concerning a healthy weight for your body.

Thank you,I hope you reach your goal soon. I'm not really concerned about my weight, just curious who is right. For example,I have a sister-in-law who is a nice lady but can say weird things from time to time. I used to weight 120 before and she said I was fat. I'm 100 now and she asked me if I was sick:))))

Thank you, but it will be a while before I get to my goal as I need to lose 50 pounds. I am trying again though. For a few years I didn't really try hard enough and just coasted along. How tall are you? Maybe she really is worried about your health. Although, some people just don't know what to say and that makes them say the wrong thing.

She might be... I'm 5'3. Maybe you should give up late dinners and replace them with light snacks, that works for most people I know. You probably know better anyway...
