What have you learned from myLot?

I think that since becoming a member of the myLot community, I have learned a lot not only about myself, but about others. There are so many different types of people on this site from all over the world and everyone has an opinion about everything! I like the differing opinions, the discussions, and even the arguments. It motivates me to be a better person. It teaches me to be tolerant and to learn about other views. It also helps me learn which ways of communication work for me and which don't when dealing with others. Sometimes I regret my responses when I first send them, but I always learn from them in the end. Even when I butt heads with someone I take it as a learning experience. If I have failed in my communication style I try to get better for next time I am in a similar discussion with someone. It also helps me strengthen my arguments and solidify my beliefs. What about you? Similar experiences?

Hi Molly it is funny that you ask this question today, because this morning I participate in a discussion and the person who wrote the piece look down on my responds and I was going to answer her back in an attitude but I cool and think twice and I am so glad that I did it. I am new on MYLOT but I am learning and since being here I have learnt alot.

I think you will find that a lot of people here will give an attitude and there is always someone who will disagree with your opinions, but as long as you keep cool and don't let it bother you, mylot is a great place!

I have learned a lot of things from myLot! Members here have different views and opinions when it comes to different issues. I may not always agree with them but I definitely respect their views and opinions. We do not have monopoly over knowledge. That is why it is important to be exposed to different people so we could be more aware of things around us.

That is so true! If you are never exposed to different opinions, your life will get pretty boring.

Yeah, I find mylot a good source to learn something from other people from different cultures and walks of life. I also learned how to be more patient, become a more open-minded person and tolerant as well. In some situations or discussions, emotions gets so high that I do my best to keep mine cool and always state my opinion well-mannered.

hi.Being a member of this site for 10 months, I've learned and experienced that sincere friendships can be possibly formed. The first time I joined MyLot, like almost everybody else, I was only motivated with the promise of being paid for my participation. And the rest I didn't believe. Well, that is, meeting new friends and actually have the chance to have a great time being a MyLot member. I've been a member of one discussion site that doesn't pay their members but I did have some interesting experience sharing my views and opinions. But that experience pales in comparison with my MyLot experience. From the different kinds of discussion we can find here, we either laugh, smile or empathize with what the subject of discussion offers. And of course, there are those controversial, and much heated discussions. I don't respond to them but I do read the heated comments. And I have to say that I have never read something like that in the other site. Here, you can tell the whole MyLot members what you really feel, and that's fine. Either they love you or hate you for it.

I've learnt a lot of things here on mylot. I don't usually read the paper or watch the news so a lot of the discussions about current news really helps me keep up to date. Not just news from the USA but around the world. I haven't really gotten in to an argument with anyone on here, but have had serious discussions. I learn something from all of them. I get to see different peoples views on things and try to understand them. It helps me interact with others in face to face conversations too.

I have learned a lot about all different subjects and cultures that people belong to. I have learned how to respect one another no matter your differences. I have also learned that no matter how hard you try there will always be someone you cannot get along with. I have also learned that Mylot is a place for making friends as well as money.

The biggest thing I have learned from mylot, is that yes we all have very strong opinions and sometimes this beliefs and opinions clash, but rather we share very real similarities. If I am having a certain problem all I have to do is post about it and the advice and support comes flowing out of the congregation. Sure some of it is nonsense and you have to disregard that, but what matters is that here is a community of folks bent on offering their own life lessons to help another. The women that I have met here have given me strength in a very frightening and confusing time in my life. That bond we share for being Women, feminine, and moving into another chapter of our life, has been indispensable to me. Thats why I come away with from my experience here.

Before, i have i discussion which earned a lot of responses.. not so many but at least more responses i guess than the usual. There was one who commented on my discussion and the tone of his/her post sounds envious. I just laughed it off and responded to his/her comment politely. I told him/her that he/she is entitled to his/her opinion and i would not want to change his/her presumptions because i find it without purpose. :-) That was also what i learned about mylot. I agree with you that here you can learn how to argue well without being scandalous or something like that. We are here to express ourselves, we are here to respect each others opinions.

wooitsmolly Ihave learned a lot about myself and about others too. I have actually learned to have some tolerance as I am one of the older generation with some beliefs pretty' well ingrained then I have met so many wonderful younger people here who have widely different beliefs. They have made me stop and think and try to look at things from their prospective. It was most enlightening and has actually changed a few of my own beliefs. I now realize that there can be anumber of ways of looking at things and none of them are really wrong. they just mean that we are all individuals and we all have the right to be respected for our beliefs and we must respect others for their different beliefs.
