Making money with PTC website?

Hi I just made an account on Bux.to. I look at the success stories and it shows that some people are getting paid above $1000. It seems that buying referrals on that site makes you a lot more money than just clicking away without them. I guess it is for every one of their clicks you get like 1 cent or something. But doesn't this seem too good to be true? If it were true, then I would be able to make my money back in about 3 weeks easy, and from there just reap the profits. Does anyone have any information on this site? I am pretty skeptical. If someone would join as my referral, I would be able to see how much of a difference it would make and if buying referrals are worth it.
