How do you feel about public schools these days? My daughter is two and I am trying to decide on weather or not to put her in public school or not. I have heard a lot of strange things about religion and such going on in schools today, schools having kids practices other religions besides christianity without the parents knowing. I believe that each person has his choice and I do not think the schools should go behind parents backs without their consent and teaching children stuff the parents do not consent to. I know that religion is not the only problem this is just one that came to mind. Please give me your opinion on how you feel about the public schools your children go to?

I think home schooling is the best. public school really sucks. I can't tell you how many times i told my teachers my work was TOO EASY and how many times they said "ok, i'll get something harder" and never did so i ended up never learning ANYTHING because i already knew what they were teaching and what makes it really bad is I was in "EH" classes because i have a learning disability. You'd think that would mean I'd get more attention right? wrong. These teachers just sat on there butts and had us copy from books and when i say "copy" i mean, I would basically just re-write what the book said on paper. Finally in high school i got my parents to get me home schooled.. my grades went up SO High and so fast is was crazy. my parents wish they would've done it sooner And you can do this yourself! they have websites you can download the work off of so you don't have to pay for someone else to come into your home and teach. but home schooling is the best this way you know your kid is gonna be learning and i think home schooled kids are usually a lot smarter. At least it seems that way to me. i guess it just also depends on where you live because I can't say all teachers are crappy but it seems like all the good ones are in the lower grades like 1-5 and very few in the higher ones... but there are some great teachers out there in public schools but you never know who your kid is gonna end up with for a teacher

I can agree with you on the work not being hard enough and no attention given. I always complained about that as well in public schools. Its crazy when you compare schools in different countries. I was talking with my bf who schoooled in Nigerian Publics schools. He was telling me that you basically bought the textbooks, went to class. Read the whole book. And took the exam. However the only advantage to this was that if you new the work, or read and comprehended the textbook fast, you could go read the next years studies and just take the exam. Was to say kinda of like "Self studies"

no school is perfect! the best thing you can do is do research, ask friends and family what schools in your area they put their child in. how do they like it? weather is public or private school, they all have different advantages, and disadvantages.
