Hi rulzzster - My decision is tied between the first movie and the fourth movie. Like you mentioned, I think The Philosopher's Stone did a great job at introducing the characters and creating a new magical world that viewers want to jump right into and be a part of. The other movie that I feel is just as good was The Goblet of Fire. This is probably because it was also my favorite book. I really liked the plot and how they were able to translate the scenes from the book to the movie. My last favorite book is The Deathly Hallows and I expect that to be another tie for first place when it comes out. I hear it's supposed to be a two-part movie!

I agree with you, doubloonie. My favorite movie is still the first because I feel it captured the magic of the book perfectly. It may be the only movie that I actually liked better than the book. I thought number 4 was also good but should have been two movies. They had to cut so much of the book out and it was probably my favorite book.

I actually watched the first movie before reading the first book and since it made me fall in love with the entire franchise, the first movie will always hold a special place in my heart. I feel the same way you do in that this movie is the only one that is better than the book. The first book was still good but written at a very young reader level. I may feel that way also because it was the only movie I watched before reading the book. So after having read every book thereafter multiple times before seeing the movies, I tend to look out for and notice the missing scenes more. You're right about the fourth movie - they really should've made it into a two-parter two. There was so much action in it, that it could've been possible!

I agree. The first one was so bright and cheery. I didnt care for the 2nd the 3rd was better than th 2nd the 4th was better than the 3rd. The 5th was pretty good. I wonder when the 6th is coming out?

Well since my Hollywood crush is Evanna Lynch who plays Luna Lovegood....I'd have to say I like the fifth one. I didn't much like the fifth book because it was a lot of Harry Potter being "angsty". I liked how the movie cut the book down a lot and became the shortest movie from the longest book.
I do like them all, and this summer I plan on having a movie marathon, where my friends and I will watch every single one consecutively.

I believe the first one was the best one; it could stay much more true to the book because, well, the first book is way shorter than the later ones, for example. For another, it was fresh and new at the time, and I thought the casting was absolutely wonderful.
Later on movie-wise I started to question one or two of the casting choices, as well as the sudden change in some things (like how abruptly the castle grounds changed, especially around Hagrid's house, after the third movie or so). It just unsettled me, I guess.

I agree, there's nothing like the first ones when they introduce the characters as a whole. So, that would mean the first and second movies are the best ones. I just finished "The Order of the Phoenix" and that was the worse one. To me, it was way too "dark".

I think all the Harry Potter movies are really good,and filled with a lot of humor and a lot of action and as to which one is better it is hard to say,but If I did have to choose one I would pick Order of the Phonex because it is the newest one,and I think the plot and the special effects were better in that one,compared to the other four.

i thinks all harry potter movies are good maybe first was the best because it was something new and everyone who read book wanted to see it. then i like third there were a lot of great effects but i think book was better fourth was also fine but fifth was maybe the most boring but i looking forward on harry potter 6

I can say that i like almost all harry potter movie but the second movie was a disaster!!
It's the first movie that i watch in the cinema where i feel like very, very sleepy during the whole duration. To me, it fails in capturing the essence of the book :(
