Do you tell your kids bed time stories or do you read them bed time stories? Are you the creative person that can make up a story as you go? I am some times. I rather read my daughter a story then tell her one. I feel like every story I try to tell is one that I have read anyway so whats the differance? My grandmother can make up a story in no time. She just keeps going and going. Don't ask her to tell you the same story twice she won't remember it. But that woman can tell a story! I remember telling her "tell me a story about the frog" and she would. She would go on for as long as I wanted her too. It didn't matter what I wanted her to tell me a story about she could tell it.

I normally read them a book before bedtime im not that good at making up stories but my two girls love the classic tales like the three little pigs and little red riding hood.

I usually make up stories. Those ideas were spawned into books. I never knew I had the knack until I had children. My son would listen to me and he doesn't snore so I never knew when he was asleep! My daughter would have me read to her, something princess related or a fairy tale. Usually I give them subliminal messages when they are dosing off, its funny to have them ask me about something I said the night before.

If they answer you now just wait till they are older. My mom used to ask me questions when I was sleeping and I didn't know I was answering - the truth! The next morning I never knew if I told or not... I was always getting into trouble.

When my son was young i always used to read to him or at times I used to make up my own stories and tell him.I never had anyone doing this for me so i never wanted my son to miss out on it.

I love reading stories but like I said before I can't make up a story. I just don't do well with it. Good thing there are sooooo many books out there.

I can't make stories up at all I am not very good at storytelling I have to read books that are already wrote. I wish I had more of an imagination so I could make my own stoires up but at least there are lot of different books to buy to tell new stories from.

My youngest son is just beginning to enjoy books, so I end up reading to him throughout the day. At the moment he has a favourite which is rhymes all about transport, and I swear I'm reading it every ten minutes! I just about know it my heart now! I don't really read to him at bedtime particularly, but do if he's particularly restless. I normally read the words in the book and add extra commentary of my own about the pictures. I can talk for hours lol

My daughter is always bringing me books to read. She is pretty funny too because if I can't read to her at that moment she gets mad and "reads" the book herself. She can't read but she can babble away.

I have made up stories when my children were little, but now they are a little old for bedtime stories. Quite a few that they heard when they were little, came from the Bible.
