I have stopped taking contraceptive pills. Ever since I did, my period became irregular and my abdomen hurts on the first and second day of my period. I also find it hard to lose weight then.
How about you? What are the effects that contrace[tive pills have on you?

I took some for like one year and for me it has no effect. It even give me a great skin, LOL! I mean I use to have pimples once in a while like when my period is coming but when I start to take pills, I started to enjoy my face without any allergies, I aso didn't gain weight and have no problem in my appetite! Maybe you need to change your brand?

Hi there Che!
Well, I have heard about the pills that gives you smoother skin. I think it's called Dianne Pills. When I asked the pharmacist for the pills with the lowest estrogen content, she recommended gynera. I wanted a low-estrogen pills since I've heard that too much estrogen allegedly causes cancer.
Anyway, I am happy with our method now.
Thank you very much for your response.

The hormones in contraceptive make your cycle more regular, and help with other things like making your periods lighter and perhaps clearing acne.
Unfortunatly they have bad side effects too. When your body becomes used the hormones, it is difficult for your body to adjust to not having them anymore. So by stopping the pill, your body is thrown out of whack.
Without contraceptive I never had difficult periods, so I have chosen not to use hormones anymore. I am using a non-hormonal form of birth control called Para Guard, or better known as the copper T IUD. (They do make a hormonal IUD as well). It is a tiny device, the size of a quarter, inserted in the cervix. It was uncomfortable at first, but now I don't even notice it's there. With it, I don't have to worry about birth control for 10 years. I have been on it for 3 or 4 months now and haven't given it a second thought.

Hi there Katsmeow!
That sounds great. So you have to replace it after a specific period?

The one I have lasts for 10 years, so yes, after 10 years I will need it removed. I am not sure if I can immediatly get another IUD, or if I have to switch to another form of birth control for awhile. But I do plan on getting my tubes tied at some point, I just can't do that right now due to time constraints. But I have 10 years to get my tubes tied.

Hi there Mz_Ira!
I also experienced tenderness in my chest before just like how I feel whenever my monthly period is coming.
