Sometimes when my phone rings I have the funny feeling in my tummy that I would be agitated for a while all because someone calls me to ask things lik: Hey I am calling from so and so bank..and i wonder you have some time... Something like that. Do you have any idea how to "punish" these phone spammers...and do not suggest I take my name off the directory as they may not have come from ther , and why should I not let legitimate people find me? So I need some ideas and may be we can even put these ideas into ACTION and rid this nuisance.

as soon as you realise it's a phone-spammer, just act really duhhh type stupid - repeat everything they say to you 3 times, and say "ay", "what", "uh" over & over again.....then you can start to introduce random words into it...everything they say or ask you, answer with a word like "topography", then for the next question answer with something like "flotsam"...keep it up and they'll soon get bored & hang up.

I get these calls almost every day and the way I deal with them now is to say *Could you just hold the line for a moment* then I put the receiver down on the desk and switch on some of my louder music, the phone is right next to one of the speakers so they phone spammer doesn't stay on the line very long - LOL

I heard a really funny one on the internet. The person who answers pretends to be the police that is investigating the murder of the owner. Then the police starts asking the caller all kinds of questions including name, address, phone number etc. He thenk proceeds to tell him that they will need to formally interview him and try to make an appointment at the headquarters. The poor guy on the other line freaks out and hangs up. I don't think he ever called again! I usually say I'm the sitter and that the owners are out of town. That way I'm polite but finish the call quickly. Good Luck!

You might find this article interesting: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/411350/cardholder_services_nuisance.html And of course there is always the national do not call list. Takes a month to take effect, but is very affective against telemarketers.

If you haven't signed up on the "Do Not Call List" I would say to sign up for it..We don't get those kind of calls, not even the ones from Telemarketing which I can't stand...It does help to be on the list. Then if you get a phone scam call you can report them and they will get a big fine for calling your number....Here is the link to do sign up at...https://www.donotcall.gov/ I have a lady friend who is 82 years old and would get all kinds of scammer calls. I went and signed her up and now she isn't getting all the calls she was getting. She is so happy now...

If it your phone house, you can take all the ideas from other mylotters here. If you feel bad about taking drastic action, you can use other tactic like: If it was from the bank etc you didnot wanted to meet, just told them that you are new owner of the house and you already moved out from the house. Sometimes I wonder from where does they get our phone number specially from bank or credit card company?
