How to get rid of acne and acne scars

I've had acne problems since I was a teen and I haven't found long-term treatments. It really bothers me that pimples appear on my face (and sometimes other parts of my body as well) without me knowing why. I've tried sleeping early, exercising, and putting a lid on my chocolate bingeing. A few years ago, I tried using Proactiv and it worked for a while. After a dramatic improvement in my skin, I felt as if I hit a plateau where I had mild acne once in a while. Furthermore, I had lots of acne scars on my face which I had to cover up with concealer. Eeek! Being the perfectionist that I am, I tried switching to other brands hoping to find the perfect acne medicine. So far, I've used stuff from Mario Badescu and Kiehl's with not-so-great results. Both product lines are a hit-or-miss; sometimes the pimple goes away and sometimes they don't. So, I'm on the lookout for other brands to try. Anyone have suggestions? :)

Visit a dermatologist. A prescription strength cream will help your acne. None of the OTC stuff really helps, especially in severe cases like yours. He/she might also be able to deal with the scars, too, or you have to visit a cosmotologist. There are some laser treatments and things that can be done to reduce the way the scars look, but I don't think they can get rid of them completely. You will have to follow a strict diet. It's not only chocolate to avoid. You know why they call it pizza face? It not only looks like it, the greasy pizza causes it, too. Anything greasy has to be eliminated from your diet. No pizza, french fries, burgers, and the like. You also have to avoid lemony and citrussy fruits and anything that contains that stuff. Nothing acidic. This includes the number one acne causer, tomatoes (much of that in pizza, too, lol). No sodas as most of them have acidic material in them. I used to have entire sheet of no-no foods to sometimes to eat these foods. Following the diet and applying the special cream from the dermatologist really helped me. My face, chest, shoulders and upper back were a mess. Furthermore, contrary to popular believe, acne is not due to lack of cleanliness. Don't overscrub your face, that just makes it worse. Use ph neutral soap without any perfumes and stuff. Everything else just irritates the skin even more. Lastely, to avoid scars, don't pick at the effected areas.

Wow thanks for replying jonesy123. I do visit a dermatologist but regular sessions leave my face dotted with wounds that take forever to heal, not to mention that sessions are expensive! :( I don't eat pizza much but I guess I should avoid other greasy food as well. :( As for the ph soap you mentioned, i haven't come across any in my area. Is the ph indicator supposed to be listed on the package? I'm using St. Ives blemish control wash now it smelly good and leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh but I don't know if it works either..

The ph factor should be 0 and stated somewhere on the box/bottle. I would consult with another dermatologist. Whatever yours is doing doesn't work. There is prescription strength cream with cortizone in it that does wonders. But most dermatologists want to utilize all of their neat new tools. Maybe your regular physician can make a recommendation. Good luck!

Hello mimico I used a totally natural solution about 6 months ago after battling acne for a long time. I know all about scars. This natural solution got rid of all my acne for good in about 10 days for me. I got the Free in 3 Days product (but it really took about 10). You'll never need another acne treatment again. Here is where I found it.. http://www.all-in-one-health.com/acne

I guess u have oily face. Are u using a benzoyl peroxide topical medicaton?I think so.How long did u try?One week? Two weeks? Actually u should try it more a month before giving up.Also initially use a thin coating only on your face and once a day.Don't worry if u get more pimples at the beginning. It is the comdeone that come to the surface. Also use a 2.5% concentration in a gel form or a cleanser.
