Growing up poor. How did it effect you.

I grew up in the projects or what they call now "low income housing". My mom only made it to the 10th grade when she had to quit because she literally had no clothes to wear only the same shirt and skirt she washed everyday until they were so worn she was ashamed to wear them again. My dad had to quit to help support his family and was a factory worker. There were 5 of us kids. My father would be laid off or the plant just would close down but we had each other. As corny as that sounds looking back now I feel as though we were rich because we have each other. I think now that being poor had effected me in different ways than it did with my other siblings. I seem to hold on to things that I feel are still useful or may become useful to me in the future. I use the word recyclable. My family call it junk. I am wondering if anyone else knows of how growing up poor has effected them.

There are time i am just so crazy about money, i juz work more than one. Until today, i am still so use to it with this kinda life style. I have my full time job, work as Senior Software Engineer. I also work as freelancer as my part time work. I help my client to setup website, helping them to customized or maintain websites. If i am not grow up poor, i dont think i am so crazy in money :p

No it isn't easy that is for sure. I think that we will be effected the rest of our lives. Thank God the effect it had on you was in a positive direction and not one that left you even further in despair. Now that you know why you do things the way you do them you can make changes when you notice the behavior. I know that you can do it. Look at the strength you have and how far you have come.
