Mine is ShadouPada01='p [Previously, it was 'Shahmecompy' -- after my previous girlfriend; before that, it was 'Gelenny', a brilliant friend and my sister-in-law's niece] I'm not quite sure how or why I started naming my computer, but it was most probably because my good friend, wedding videographer Jason Magbanua (jasonmagbanua.com) named all five(?) systems of what he had back then in his then small production studio. He also had "guardians" atop his monitors, which idea I also followed=') [He's a really brilliant guy, and he's all over the place now. If you'd been online searching for the best wedding videographer, it's impossible that you'd missed him]. Anyway, I don't really have any superstitious belief whatsoever for naming him (it:'p). I heard from Jason that he named them because people said it brings luck. I just name mine because I have real affinity for this brilliant piece of machinery=') We always work together, ShadouPada01 and I='D I'm curious... does your computer have a name?

Hello LordenShadoufang. In the past I have named cars because of their number plates making a name but I must admit I have never named my computer but now that the idea is in my head I will name her Access as she allows me to access the whole world in a second as has allowed me access to more friends than I could ever have imagined meeeting on a one to one walking down the road or out socialising. She is a very powerful lady and one I respect. Excellent idea of your friend Jason to name them. I have an Angel of the Family above where computer is placed by actually on the computer is a piece of amethyst crystal. Thank you for posting this discussion, I will very interested in seeing if others name and what names they have chosen. Ellie :D

crystal ball ornament - crystal ball ornament in fact the angel next holds an aqumarine in her hand
I always knew you were a warrior even though a very peaceful one! The Way of The Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman good book. There are certainly a lot of Jedi ones out there too eh! Thanks for giving me the background reasons for their names. I love aquamarine, I had a ring my nan gave me with aquamarine in but the sone was lost but beautiful though. Does that mean you were born in March then? I am sending you a pic of another crystal I have it is a beautiful moon crystal ball, only for ornamental purposes but just so beautiful. I hope you will agree. My daughters favourite would definately be your spongebob though! LOL. Lovely to hear from you again. Keep checking in from time to time I am sure I will be here. Ellie:D

Hi, Ellie! Wow, I missed you. I've been out of myLot for so long. From time to time, I log in, but I just couldn't give time to spend for it. But, I always see you busy here everytime I visit... with Access in company ='p heheheh. I'm sorry I didn't have time to reply, but your discussions were generally great as I've seen =') Hey, I also have an angel, Sealtiel, the Archangel of Worship and Contemplation (from my mom :'); Yoda, the Jedi master! (ShadouPada01 means "Shadoufang", "Padawan", 'Padawan' being a Jedi apprentice :'p); and Spongebob, the master of all Squarepantsed sponges ='D Thank you very much too! =')

Yes, I always personalise my computer in every manner, which includes the adding of a name. My desktop is called Puccini and my laptop is called Tchaikovsky. I have no liking for the default alphanumeric titles that Windows decides to allocate.

You are right about Tchaikovsky being named after the russian composer, and Puccini is named after an italian composer.

Cool! A fellow artist, although I'm now more of a graphics person. I was a drummer before, though I'm more into alternative and rock performances. I also favor classical and jazz. When I hear 'Italian', I always think first about food. Great cuisine, passionate cooking. Thank you for introducing me to Puccini the composer. My, you must also be a passionate in music =')

You're probably into a lot of desktop, etc. customization too? I WAS a Windows customization addict. I'm trying to control myself now :'p since it's taking too much of my time, and my computer's not up to speed with the CPU + memory + graphics requirements entailed in 'em. I like Puccini... sounds cartoony :') --Tchaikovsky probably came from the Russian artist?

You have sort of an "untouchable" vibe to me =') Wow I appreciate that. You're probably not easily swayed into something just because others believe it or are doing it =')

That is a unique question that I am more than happy to answer. Sadly, I don't have a name for this computer. I don't even know how to go about naming it, truthfully. Well, it's almost three years old now. I guess it does need a name? I know, how about Max? Short and simple. Yeah, I think Max is perfect for it.

Thanks, Havoc! Heheh, that's already pretty old. But mine is older -- over 6 years old now. (Actually, the first computer I got was lent by my friend, who was a partner in graphics and web production. That's why I didn't know that I really had to give it a name since I wasn't the one who formatted it.) In computer age, mine is probably old enough to be Max's grandfather. +He's already received a lot of "transplants" and "enhancement surgeries" :'p Hey, everyone, meet Max LoL!

Hi lorgenshadoufang, when setting up a new computer it asks for you to name it. I have named all of mine Lennon. I think I do this because i wish I would have named one of my kids after John Lennon. Sigh, another lifetime I guess :)

Oh, yeah... I haven't realized that... that's probably the real reason why my friend named his haha ;'D But really this one's different. I still have the name "gelenny" taped on one side of my computer case :'p and I call it 'him' heheh.. (of course I called it 'her' back when he had the girl names). Thank you, Shannon! =') "another lifetime..." hahaha! ;'D Well, you could probably call some of your kids John, Lennon... or embroider the name on their clothes or something :'p But, still, that wouldn't be the same. And calling them by other names would probably confuse :'8
