Sometime back I was driving down the highway listening to the news on the radio and heard this story.A poor man that worked for a financially well off company that did not offer health benefits. His 6 year old son was diagnosed with cancer. The boy needed medical treatments that he could not afford,so he played with the books and got the money he needed for his child's medical needs. He was caught and sentenced to 8 years in jail. His son died.He had model behavior at the jail and requested to be let go for a few hours to go to his son's funeral. He was denied. Then the next news story was that a man was put in jail for 10 years for rape and had done 4 years. But,the jail was getting full. So,they deceided to release him.Fourty-five minutes after he was released he broke into a house and raped a woman! Now the jail's are over crowded and my son(who live's with my mother) called me and said that he saw a hand holding a gun coming in the window of the back door and with the same hand was trying to unlock the door.It turned out that it was a policeman coming there to arrest my sick husband with no crimonal record for a traffic ticket he did not pay.We had just moved out of there and was staying in a room.My husband had just been in the hospital for a week.I spoke with the policeman and was told to encourage him to turn himself in that he would not have to stay in jail.He lied,my husband slept on a cold floor for 3 night's and they would not permit me to bring him his medicine.I explained that it was prescribed by the doctor and they said it did not matter that it had to be prescribed by the jail doctor and that he would be seen by him right away, which never happened. Just recently the police were at someone's home hassleing a teenager for having a small amount of marijuana in his pocket while right around the corner, literally a woman was being raped ! I could go on with more stories I know of.It is not just something that I see happening once and a while. What is wrong with this picture?

I have to say that the criminal system and the police departments are really out of line today, they seem to have their prioritys all messd up. You hear every day aout the jails being over crowed. They will allow a convicted kiler out on the streets only to kill again nights later. But they pull over a person that has a joint or something petty like that and throw the book at him. When you need a policeman, they are no where o be found.Make a slight mistake, there they are!!All I can say is there is so much corrucption in the police department, that I really do not trust any of them.Down here they will take advantage of the female suspects they take into custody, thinking they will not report it.
