I know they sell the watermelons and cantaloupe like this. It is sliced in a plastic. You can also buy some sliced fruits in a can, such as peaches and pears.

I also buy sliced pineapple and sliced melons as I cannot eat a whole melon quickly and the canteloupes whole 'are just too expenive for my tastes so I buy them halved. 'the rest I buy whole but berries are so high that I buy the frozen ones except for strawberries as they are on sale now too.

I buy it whole and cut it myself. I don't think it lasts as long if it's precut. Even lettuce by the head lasts longer then the shredded in the bag. I think fruit is the same.

hello vanities, i rarely buy pre-sliced fruits and or vegetables coz i guess i am paranoid LOL i just dont trust them much and id rather do it myself so i know my hand is clean and that the instrument i am using is sanitized. i know US have a good sanitary procedure but still. also sometimes i see a lot of bruises in some sliced parts so that makes me think that maybe some of it as sliced from a bruised fruit, oh well. whole fruits and vegetables to me is healthier as the nutrients and minerals are only released when i cut them. takecare!

I like to buy it whole because it's cheaper, I know that my utensils and working area are clean, and I can cut it into any shape/size I like. Another factor is also the quality of the fruit. Precut fruits may be low in quality but this depends on the place you go to for them. The last time I watched anyone cut up fruits, I nearly gagged. The knife was covered in rusty, the working area was messy and the person was handling the fruit with his bare unwashed hands (which went on to handle whole fruits again!). Not exactly great for maintaining your stomach health!

I prefer to buy the whole fruits when shopping. I like to peel and cut the fruits whenever I need. My siblings and their families like to eat pineapple and they know I am good in peeling pineapples so they always buy a couple of pineapples during our family gathering. I do enjoy peeling them especially after removing the eye-like stuffs and the fruits look pretty attractive with the circular grooves on them. I love fruits which are freshly peeled as it always tasted more delicious and hygienic because they have not been exposed to the air for a long time. Another reason I like preparing my own fruits as I could collect the skins of them for making compost for my plants. I buy presliced fruits only when I go outing and don’t have spare time to buy and prepare them for myself.

First of all, the knife we use must be thin and sharp. Don’t hold the heavy fruit. Place it on the chopping stone. Pick the more slanting rows of linear eyes and groove them in a spiral form round the whole fruit. Hope this could help you to have a rough idea as how to remove the eyes.

I prefer to buy my fruits whole, then cut them up myself. For a few reasons. 1. It is more expensive to buy fruit that is cut up. 2. If I cut it up at home, I know that all the utensils and surfaces used are clean. 3. I don't add any chemicals to my fruits to keep them from browning, while many companies do this.

I do this with pineapple as well. It's so much easier and not any more expensive than buying the whole pineapple and doing all the work yourself!
