Do real men really wear pink?

I have a formal event to attend this Saturday. It is actually being called a prom. But all that means is that the men are going to wear their regular suits and the women are going to go out and spend way too much money on a formal gown they are never going to be able to wear again. I'm smarter than this so I am wearing a dress I bought on clearance like 3 years ago so I'm not spending anything to attend this function. But my dress is black and pink. And I always like my honey to wear clothes to coordinate with my outfit. The Christmas formal he wore a red shirt and a black suit to go with my red dress. The office party he wore a green shirt and a black suit to go with my green dress. Now I am asking him to wear a pink shirt. (And many of you know how much I HATE pink, so I feel his pain) But he has agreed to wear a pink shirt for me. My friend has already started picking on me/him over his sense of fashion. She says the fastest way to emasculate a man is to make him wear pink. I disagree. What are your thoughts on men wearing pink?

Pink shirt - Fish in a pink shirt.
I sense that my reply here is going to lose me two of my best myLot friends - a third with your best friend and who knows how many more. However. I AM WEARING A PINK SHIRT RIGHT NOW!! To prove it there is a photo below. I was cajoled into pink by my wife and a female colleague. It was and is not my favourite shirt colour. After a while however, the constant "Look at {insert male friend's name} doesn't he look so good in that pink shirt" just gets to you and with the flow you go. I have three now, all of them chquered with white. Today's is a leisure shirt, so that tells you how deeply ingrained pink is in my wardrobe now. I sahll now watch my friends lists shrink. Been good knowing you all.

I love you! THANK YOU! But as I stated above, we got you into a bra, a pink shirt on your isn't a stretch for anyone's imagination. But you do have a point, some men just look good in pink. My sweetie is one of them. Come on. For as much as I despise the color pink I can appreciate that some people just look good in it. (me not being one of them though) lol

Cyn, my husband would rather be caught in his skivvies than wear pink. But my boys generation are wearing it more and more. My 13 year old has a pink tee that is among his favorites, and my Middle son has a beautiful pink dress shirt that when he wears it he looks so sharp and smart! I actually think pink on men is awesome... Not to mention it takes a man with big balls to wear it... I say kudos to your fella :)))))

Sorry cyn - I have to apologise for giggling but if I can get my other half out of his ripped jeans and grubby t-shirt I think i have achieved a miracle! I can just imagine your family all being kitted out to match you - right down to their underwear! lol Ok back to the subject of COURSE real men wear pink and lots of them look too darned hot in it for our good! Gone are the days when pink was for girls and blue for boys - or should we laugh at women who wear blue? Not sure if my other half has ever worn pink - oh yeah he has a t-shirt that was dyed pink in the wash but I know my 14 yr old son has and he looked good in it! xxx

Funny you say that you can imagine my family all being kitted out to match me... cause I have picked out everyones clothes in coordinating colors of blue for my wedding. But you make a great point, if blue were for boys and pink were for girls then why don't I get laughed at for wearing blue. lol

Personally, I feel there is nothing wrong with a man wearing Pink, and actually that is a Good color on a lot of men as well. But this should be a personal choice and decision, as I cannot get my husband to wear this color, so I could never get him a Pink shirt. But why let someone dictate what a man should and should not wear? If your man feels good in that color, and wants to do that for you, let him.. and let others keep their comments, but do not let them change how you feel in the process.

I think most of the metropolitian guys are not reluctant to wear pink. I see many guys who wear a pink shirt to work. Some can carry it off really well while others might just look out of the place in a pink shirt. I suggest he can wear a black blazer along with a tie to not make it that evident. But seriously many guys really look good in pink. Hope you have a good time at the party. ~Pinks~

A white shirt would also match and look nice. I would let him off the hook this one time and let him wear a white shirt!! Let your friends get a shock when he shows up in white...the joke will be on them since they are all giving you and him a hard time about wearing pink!

I have a lot of male friends who wear pink polo in the office. My boss even got a Pink Barong (Formal Wear for males hear in the Philippines. I think it's really a great deal of courage for a man to wear pink.

In my opinion, there's no problem that a man wear pink. I think the problem is whether the looks great in pink. My father has some pink shirts and I think he looks really good in that. And of course I think my father is a real man. However I don't like one of my classmates in pink. He's just so girlish in it. But that exactly meets his personality.

I love men who wear pink! It's pretty cute!:p Pink is not just a 'girl color' but it can also fit to men. I think you should try putting that pink on you and i guess that would be a good look on you. Actually, here in our place, men do wear pink. And i can see men mostly wear pink! Color is not a big deal anymore as long as your comfortable with it and you carry it very well. Girls here mostly attract to men who wear pink! That's true!;) You should go on your new style dude!:D

I think that if people are going to judge someone based on the color shirt they were, they're a tad bit ignorant and not [if other men are making fun] real men themselves. The color shirt or pants you wear shouldn't affect others poeples opinions of you. The color pink has been long assiociated with feminine charachteristics. Only recently ahs the hole "metrosexual" thing been coming on very quickly. the sense of being better dressed than females has become more important to some man than to a woeman and her own apperance. But personaly, if you wear a color and people are going to make fun of you, so be it. Just turn around and laugh and them for all sticking to the rules and falling into the trap of being "formal" and wear "what is expected" of a man. Go for it, during a job interview I wore a bright pink shirt, and a bright green tie. I didn't mind if I didn't get the job so it was a test. I walked in and at the end of the interview, the interviewer told me I looked "snazzy" and it would be nice to have someone who isn't afraid to wear colours that make one stand out. I personaly would rather stand out and wear a pink shirt than look like everyone else. If they laugh at your for being differnt, laugh at them for being the same. After all, you've got the courage to wear something they don't. so who's the man now? -charles

I personally am not a huge connoisseur of pink but I have a pink dress shirt I wore to a banquet with a black/pink diagonally striped tie, and it looked really nice I gotta say. Try it on and look in a mirror and see what you think.

I hate the colour pink. I would never ever make my boyfriend wear it. And he actually looks good in it, lol. I don't think it's emasculating if the guy doesn't mind wearing it. Just shows his confidence level in himself. And if it works for him, all the better. but i would never wear pink so I dont think I would make him do it, lol.

My Fiance wore a hot pink shirt to go with my hot pink and black dress to a party a little while ago and he got rave reviews! I thought that he looked incredibly good and so did everyone else there. He was originally a little reserved about it, but it didn't matter to him at all after. I think that if your man is confident enough in his sexuality to wear pink, it won't bother him at all.

I like pink on men and don't think it says anything about their masculinity......especially if they look really good in the color. I don't know about your honey but there are lots of men that look better in pink then women do! I am one of those gals that doesn't look good in pink or peachy colors....he is really a good man if he wears pink to match your dress!

it really doesn't matter if a guy wear pink clothes. There are lots of guys now wearing different and unique clothes. I also do wear pink. Its a fashion. And who cares whatever color of your shirt is. it is your fashion and it is your style. My other friends says that if you see a guy wearing pink, it shows more of the masculine side of a guy. And a pink colored clothes are well fitted to a white guy. And i agree with that.

Wow going to the prom...Don't get knocked up again like I did!!! LOL!! Learn from the mistakes of young girls everywhere. Now on to the pink... Pink is that special color reserved for those male creatures who are comfortable in their own sexuality. Pink has always been billed as a feminine color so most guys don't wear it. It takes a special man to pull it off. It really doesn't bother me either...as you know I heart pink!
