CAN you LIVE without T.V. ?

I think i can live without TV---once in awhile though! :)) Our latest vacation with the kids was having no tv, no computers ,no internet at all--at where we went. The value of spending quality time with each other was wonderful. Though we have set rules on t.v. watching at home, i sometimes dwell on the reality that television has become increasingly important in our lives. It's here to stay and they're like real members of the family already, in any household.

So true. When I tell my kids that when I was their age we only had three channels and TV didn't start before four in the afternoon, they won't believe me. When I tell them that you had to get up and change the channel by using buttons on the TV itself because there was no remote control, they think I'm crazy, lol. You are so right with the TV and for some even the computer having become a family member for many families. And yes, unfortunately, in one form or another, it's here to stay and it's here for us to schedule our lives around it. It's up to us not be influenced like that;)

LOL..i remember pretty well those days where there were no remote controls.. when i tell my kids about that and how huge tv sets were--they'd laugh like crazy.. these days, who holds the remote control for the tv--is another issue to tackle..esp when the referee in the house is taking a nap.:)))

Some time ago I realized I was watching too much football. I decided to reduce the amount of football I watch to 4 quarters a year. I generally watched the Rose Bowl when Michigan and Ohio State played. Then I decided to forgo TV entirely for one year. Initially that was hard--I really missed Star Trek. But, I got used to doing other things. Now, years later, sometimes I watch the news and sometimes not. After all, there's not much I can do about the weather, lying politicians, Social Security, ground wars in the Middle East, or most other exciting things covered on the news. I have never watched the "Idol" programs, CSI programs, or any other modern nonsense on TV. They don't call it the Boob Tube for nothing. Take back your life--live an Active life not a Passive one.

I wish I could get rid of tv and would like to computer and internet but don't want to. At times, I feel I really need to and know our lives would be much fuller with nature and spending time with one another if we were to get rid of these things or just turn them off for an hour or so a day or night.

I know for a fact I can live with out the TV. The phone and Internet might be a little more difficult. I've had to go almost a whole year with out TV and I was fine. My children are even more well behaved when there is no TV, phone or computer. They are only 3,4 and 5. I only use the internet while they are sleeping and for a little while during the day while they are occiupied with playing. The TV is a big source in our house though. The news and a few tv shows my children enjoy expessially Noggin where they learn things, like spanish which I do not know. We could survive though. Good post.

I know that I could live without television. My friends laugh and so does my husband as I do watch a lot of telly and do have the telly on for background noise, esp since we now have freeview!! If someone came and said as from tomorrow the telly will be gone, I would be shocked, but I would then do allthese things that I don't do, like reading, more cooking. And i do know that deep down I wouldn't miss it, even though I would forget it wasn't there and i would go to put it on, I would think oh its not there and go and do something else instead. I think telly does overtake your lives, we do need to set rules to enable us to have time with our familys

I could definitely live without television. I rarely watch it now as it is. I only watch a couple of shows a week and it wouldn't bother me to miss them. I think I watch it more when storms are coming in, keep my eye on the weather. My kids, on the other hand, would be completely devastated. I couldn't however live without my computer!

I can go with out tv, but not without the computer. How sad is that. When I realized that tv wasn't paying me money to watch it, I discovered that I really don't feel like I need to watch it. I will turn it on from time to time to watch DIY or other type of crafty channel or cartoons with my kids, but I'm not into like I used to be about 5 years ago. I just don't have the time.

I can live without the televisyen but I cannot live without the computer and internet, lol. I use computer to do my offline and online work. I also make money from the internet and make it as my side income. If I cant touch my pc and offline for a day then I will start worry. Im not a TV fun so I just watch TV to see the news and to watch some program or intertainment that I like so much. I spent avarage only 3 hours a day with TV, compare to pc and internet that I spent at least 10- 12 hours a day.

Yes, of course TV is very entertaining. But I'm sure that I can live without TV. Actually I will be happy if sometimes there is no TV in my live , so I can spend my time for reading.

I can live without TV as long as I've computer and internet. But without both computer and internet, I'm dying. With Internet, we can see online TV while surfing , but with TV we can't surfing while watching television. So I prefer computer with Internet rather than watching T.V

I am like you I could live withoug tv once in a while. Everthing is okay in moderation I think, lol. I like to watch my soapies and the news. My children like to watch movies. However it would be great to go on vacation with no tv or internet and spend good quality time together, camping would definately not have any of the technologies. My half sister, she has no tv in her house and she has 4 children. I don't know how she survives, lol. But I guess it is what you are used to living with. She does not like it as she wants her family to interact with each other more. She says she does a lot of reading instead. I think there are bonuses and disadvantages to tv.

I think so, I can live without t.v. There is a joke that goes, "of course i can live without it, go on and try to eat your tv" lol... But kidding aside, television is just an added relaxation thing for me. But please, never in my imagination, without a cell phone... "go on, eat that damn cell phone of your" lol...

I can live without TV for a while but not for too long. It is the cheapest form of entertainment and it is also readily available.
