Where to plant the cucumbers?

My Fiance and I Want to plant cucumbers but we don't know where would be best? Under a tree so they'll be shady?... No I mean that almost sounds stupid... In direct sunlight? Could it dry it out?
Where would be the best place to plant them, and well... any other gardening tips would be much appreciated. We have alot of sunny spots, but not many shady spots.

Well you need to plant the cucumbers in the sun. They will be like a vine. I like to put something they can climb like fencing or something.
