What is everybody's top 10 favourite sayings? Mine are....... 1. If it's not broken, don't fix it. 2. Life is just a bowl of cherries, so long as you spit out the pips. 3. Only the shallow know themselves (courtesy of Oscar Wilde) 4. When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging. 5. One man's meat is another man's poison. 6. You reap what you sow. 7. All looks yellow to a jaundiced eye. 8. The darkest hour is just before the dawn. 9. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. 10. In heaven, an angel is nobody in particular (I believe that to be courtesy of George Bernard Shaw, but I may have got that wrong) What are yours?

I don't know if it is a saying. But this was taken from an article: All shall be well. I like this a lot. To whatever situation I am, all my hardships, struggles, pains, hurts, low moments, rejections, humiliations, and in times where life feels so unfair... This is a reminder, that in the end, everything will turn out well. That all shall be well.

Thanks for your response. That's great, and I think a really positive and healthy attitude towards life.

I don't know if I have ten, but here's a go... good discussion, by the way. 1. Speak your mind, even if your voice shakes. 2. If going to church makes you a Christian, does going to the garage make you a car? 3. Nothing about us without us (this is a saying from the disability rights movement in South Africa who were pissed off that all the policy decisions being made about disabled people were being made by non-disabled people) 4. Organize Locally, Resist Globally. 5. Art is not a mirror held up to reality, but a hammer with which to shape it. 6. The best things in life aren't things. 7. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. (For example, look at Congress or the monkey in the white house and his entourage) 8. Be a local hero, buy locally grown (This is something the farmers in my area thought up as a tactic to get people away from shopping at the local mega-mart. Locally made food tastes better anyway in my opinion) 9. Yes you can pat my head, but only if I can pee on your leg. (Wheelchair users invented this bumper sticker because able-bodied people tend to pat us on the head because we're so much shorter than they are and they think we're cute. Many is the person I've glared at until they learn not to do that again! 10. Future generations will turn to you and ask 'what did you do to end the AIDS crisis?

I like the saying "To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world." It really makes me think about my impact on other people. I also like the saying "Only when you have been in the deepest valleys can one appreciate the height of the tallest mountains (not sure if that is exact wording." My last one is by George Bernard Shaw, "Their are two great tragedies in life: one is to lose your heart's desire; the other is to gain it." I love all of these quotes because they really make you think and appreciate all that you have. Thanks for reminding me.
