I am not into bible memorizing. Aside from the famous John 3:16. I can also memorize my favorite verse from the Book of Thessalonians 5:17 : pray all times. And since 12 years of age, I have already memorized the Psalm 23. I guess these are the verses/chapters that I can memorize.

I've tried to memorize the verses in the bible but I never really succeeded. But i have a lot of "born again" friends and most of them can recite verses fgrom the bible book, chapter and verse.I think they really spend a lot of their timne memorizing, all those who say they are christians. but I don't think it's a big thing. What is important is you that you are familiar with the bible's teachings and apply these in your life. It's not necessary to memoprize the verses and spout them off at the drop of a hat and it's not worth it if you can rattle off the chapters, verses f the bible but do not practice what you preach. Just read the bible and meditate on God's words and howm best to apply them in your life.

I have never been very good at memorizing things. But Isaiah 12 is my favorite part of the Bible. I was in the process of reading the Bible all the way through (for the first time ever). At this time I had just accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour and was waiting to be baptized in two weeks. When I came across Isaiah 12. It just seemed to mean so much to me. And I wanted to try to memorize it. That is the only part I can say I have been able to memorize from the Bible.

My favorites I can. :) Other ones I can give you the gist of what the passage means but not word for word. I wish sometimes that I had an amazing brain that could retain word for word everything that I read from the bible but ...
Sometimes I think we take a line or a verse from the bible and apply it to what we think it means instead of keeping in context of the whole. This sometimes changes the whole meaning behind it.
I suppose that is why there are so many religions and so many disputes about what is meant by a passage or verse.

Matthew 7:1 Judge not lest ye be judged. This is my favorite bible verse and one that is often ignored.

I have this favorite verse in the bible, This verse is always in my mind. "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart" Psalms 37:4. Whenever I'm down, weary, when I have fears, I'll just remember this and all my negative feelings will be gone, for I know that when you give yourself to the Lord, he will give you everything your heart desires...

I think it's harder as an adult to memorize anything, including Bible verses. I do remember what I learned as a child - like Psalms 23.
My favorites are Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me and Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
I also learned some Scripture verses by helping out with kids' choir when my son was little. They use Psalty's Kids tapes, and many of the songs were Bible verses put to song. (It's a lot easier to memorize to music.)
