I have watched this interview with the health expert from California. She said that french fries in fast foods such as MCDO is a non food substance. It means that their fries cannot be digested by the human body. She conducted an experiment with homemade fries and fries bought at MCDO. She kept it for four years in a lunch box. After four years she opened the lunch box and found that the fries that was home made has molds and is decaying. The fries from MCDO did not decay at all. It has no molds and it is still oily. Even germs doesn't want to eat it because it is a non food substance that is why it is not decaying. Does this mean that germs are smarter than human beings? LOL! I am just kidding here. So, why is it potato became a non food substance? First of all fries in fast foods are freezed and dried. To prolong its life shelf preservatives are added on it. Preservatives and freezing actually destroy the nutrients of potatoes. So it becomes a food substance. Food substance has nutrients and can be digested by the body. Fries is not a food substance because it cannot be digested by the body and it has no nutrients at all. Another bad thing about fast food fries is that it is being cooked in LARD. Lard is an animal fat it has a bad cholesterol or LDL (low density lipoprotein). It can clog your arteries and can cause stroke and coma. Some poeple would say, "it is OK for me to eat fries because I don't get fat even if I eat 5 large fries with extra mayo." Oh well, even thin people can have stroke. Thin people can never stop lard from clogging their arteries. So, just a piece of advice to everyone, if you are really craving for fries it is better that you buy a frech potatoes and cook it at home. Of course, you have to choose your cooking oil. Don't ever ever use lard. Or much better bake your fries. It is much a healthier way of cooking your fries.:0)

Hi blackmantra! You are absolutely right. You have a good point. Being healthy doesn't meant you have to stop eating delicious foods. You just have to choose what you put in your mouth. Not all good, nutritious food taste bad. :0)

And Salt!!! Too much salt is bad for you and mcDonalds make a point to soak their fries in plenty. thogh of course it does add to the taste. I havent had any fast food fries in years, though there is a certain taste to them that will draw me in again one day!
