Morality and what is 'right'.

I'm a big Asimov fan and am currently working my through the Foundation Saga. I'll not go into details of the series here, anyone can wiki it if they are unfamiliar and I do not intend for this to be about the series. It is a quote from one of the characters that I am interested in. One of the Terminus mayors is quoted by other characters as saying something akin to; "Do not let your morals get in the way of doing what is right." This struck me as being quite sagacious. Any thoughts on this quote? Can people put 'right' above their own personal morality?
