I know what you mean. I got my first tattoo when my daughter turned 18...I was 36 (?). We did it together, with my neice (it was her first too). My ex hated the idea. And "the good ol' folk" in small town Indiana did look at me funny. I have a butterfly on my ankle. i don't know what has changed in recent years to make tattooing more of an art form, but I am glad it has happened. I plan on getting another tattoo, again with my daughter. I want to put both my grandsons' name on a rose, on my other ankle. As for trademarking tattoos, I think it is ridiculous. It's just another way for the "rich" to make more money by selling the copyrighted material.

It is nice that tattoos are becoming more popular and culturally acceptable now. There are still plenty of people in my life who feel negatively towards tattoos and think that if you have one you must be a heathen, though. It makes me kind of uncomfortable because I do have 4 tattoos, but they really just need to get over it because it's my body and I will do with it what I please.
