I was wondering what makes people a good myLotter? I think that I am a good myLotter and it is because I am good hearted and accept what people say, whether I want to hear some of it or not. I think because I can accept the fact that people have different things to say about the same topic. I try to answer most of my discussions, some days are hard to answer than others because of things going on at home, but I try. I try to rate people and pick the best responce, which is the hardest thing to do at times when they are all SO good. What makes you a good myLotter?

My reasoning is close to magickrose(sorry if that's spelled incorrectly). I try to come here with an open mind, everyone comes from a different background and has different beliefs. That's part of what makes this site so great, that you have all different kinds of opinions. I think if you can answer the question honestly and without insulting anyone, do so. If you don't know the answer or can't answer without insulting someone, just let the question pass and take another one. I've had a couple of question the past few days where I have wanted to answer, but didn't because of my viewpoints. My political viewpoints are very different from most people because of my childhood. I was born in a socialist country, moved to the US, and traveled extensively through India and Pakistan. I like seeing people's viewpoints on things that I have seen for myself, it think it's interesting how different people interpret the same item or thought. I also have a hard time picking the best response. I usually pick the best all around response, regardless of if it coincides with my opinion or not.

What a good answer. Sometimes hearing people's thoughts or views gives a mind shot of how they think or even where they are from. I like learning about different people and backgrounds also. I also stay away from anything that can turn into s HEATED debate.

I think I am a good mylotter because I come to mylot with an open mind and an open heart. I dont judge people I just give my personal opnion baased on either personal experiences or education. If I dont know about a certain topic I will not respond to it because I will not be of any help to that person. I will make shure that I respond to discussions that I have experience or knowledge on.

Having knowledge and experiance helps alot in this discussion group. I also do that because I don't want to give out false information.

Do you think mylot is a place for 'people with with good-boy syndrome'? I accept others arguments, if I find that's really acceptable, adorable and adds value to my thought. I have no interest in becoming a good mylotter, just by accepting others unreasonable thoughts. If everybody starts doing that here, then the site will be totally charmless. No new thought will emerge. I miss mylot a lot, as I do not get to access Internet regularly. That's because I look for some new things -- arguments and meaningful counter-arguments. If you really want the site to survive. Be true to yourself and other mylotters. Tell the truth that occurs to you. In any case honesty is the greatest virtue.

I think I am a good mylotter because I apply the golden rule to all my postings and expect to be treated fairly in return. I am goodnatured and do not anger easily but dislike rudeness much and name calling and flaming. Also out and out criticism by some mylotters where they are so gung ho on tearing down our spelling and our grammar that they refuse to read our discussions at all. Most of us are not typists or College English teachers but just ordinary run of the mill type people. So give us all a break please you nit pickers.

I think that one of the main things is to have a sincere like for people and an interest in what they are saying. I enjoy talking in real life, and mylot allows me to use that ability on the computer.

i think all of us here in mylot are good mylotters. whether responses are acceptable or not, started discussions make sense or not, etc. we are all good mylotters the fact that we visit mylot site to write and share every single thought that we have. we may never please each and everyone here with our opinions on certain discussions but at least we know for ourselves that we have written something that we believe is worth reading. happy mylotting!

I think a good myLotter is someone who genuinely enjoys taking part in discussions, likes to read other people's responses, tries to be helpful, and does not get upset or offended when someone disagrees with their opinion. I think to be a good myLotter you have to read and follow the myLot guidelines. You should rate discussions and responses, choose a best response in every discussion you start, make friends and be respectful. I think there are very many good myLotters, and not many who don't try to be good.
