When you were pregnant did you take your prenatl vitamins?

I would get a prescription for mines, and I was unable to take them. I got so sick to my stomach! I felt like I wanted to throw up all over the room... I just can't seem to take them. If I do, it has to be tasteless and odorless. Plus, they have to be small, so that I can chew them, because I am unable to swallow them whole..

I could never take the standard ones either. Just the smell was enough to make me sick, even if I did manage to gag one down it and the rest of my stomach contents would appear on the floor a short time later. Finally my doctor let me off the hook when nothing else worked...I took one children's vitamin in the morning and one more in the evening. They never once made me sick. Gag...I'm not even pregnant but this discussion is making me remember that horrible smell.

I could not take them. They made me sick. I had trouble keeping things down as it was. My doctor told me to take 2 chewable children's vitamins instead. Those still made me a little nauseous, but it was not as bad as the prenatal ones.

they made me ill as well.. so no i didnt take mine either. i did however consult with a nutritionist and got informed about everything that i needed in my diet in order to compensate for not taking them tho.. Total cereal was a good daily addition and became known as my prenatals in a bowl

I had no problem with mine. I took it for 9 months. Though there are times that I can't stand swallowing it, I had to and I do really tried coz, I know it's for my health and my baby's.

I know exactly where you are coming from here. I had my 3rd and last child almost 9 months ago. At times, in my pregnancy, I could hardly keep anything down. So when it came to swallowing a huge nasty horse pill every morning, I knew there was no way. My OB, switched vitamins a few times, but I just couldnt swallow them. She told me that I could buy childrens chewable vitamins, and take those. They sure do taste a lot better. Make sure you ask your doc first. Hope this helps.

Yes, the children's vitamins would be a better choice being that you can take them better than our actual prenatal vitamins... There is no way that I too can swallow a huge pill...

There will be no need to take tastelees tablets if you take a complete & correct diet. You can get all vitamins & all needs for preganancy through your diet only.

I did but it wasn't easy. My first trimester was horrible. Everyday I was nauseated and vomited regularly. The vitamins added to my misery. But I knew I have to take them, for my child's sake. If I remember correctly, I had to take three or more kinds of vitamins per day. The most hated one was the iron supplement. I had requested my doctor to change the brand a couple of times. I was hoping there's a brand that will make me less nauseated. But still, nothing. But by the second trimester, I felt a whole lot better. I could eat well and not be nauseated. Plus, I could take my vitamins without any problems anymore. My doctor even prescribed another vitamin, that was a little large for my liking. But it wasn't a problem. To make things easier for me, I used to take my vitamins with my recommended glass of chocolate milk. That way, I wouldn't have to taste them.

I take my prescribed vitamins religiously but when my stomach gets upset, I would tell my OB right away so she could change it. Vitamins are important since our food preference varies when we are pregnant. If you think you can follow a good diet, then I don't think you would be needing supplements. When I cannnot stomach the vitamins that an OB prescribes, I would resort to doubling my Anmum intake until she could recommend a pill that suits me.

Hello cream! I was pretty anal about taking mine! At first at least the first month they made me sick. But after I got through that ,they didnt bother me anymore. I hear a lot of people that they make sick. But I kept on with it , because I was scared not to take them.

Im not pregnant anymore and still the thought of them makes me wanna heave! I spoke to my midwife and she said as long as I was eating properly not to worry but just take the normal folic acid ones but even they were disgusting!

I couldn't take them because they were too big for me to swallow. And even though my doctor gave me a hard time about it she finally told me to get some regular daily vitamins to take but to continue taking my folic acid and I had to add an iron pill. this was all fine because they were all smaller pills and I could take them.

I actually took mine very sparadically (bad memory sometimes) and I gave birth to both VERY healthful baby girls and smart as can be.
