You can also save some water when washing the dishes: When washing dishes and you don't have a washer, use a basin when rinsing. Don't just let the faucet running while you are rinsing. Also, you can rinse the plates etc once before soaping. But while soaping, turn off the faucet. This will save a lot of water. These may be small measures but if a person saves just 2 gallons of water a day, that will translate to million if we talk about the population of the world. help save the earth! conserve water!

I agree that these are both fabulous ideas. Let me suggest one when you have a dishwasher as well! At the beginning of the day, especially in the summer when the kids are at home, I run a sinkful of pure hot water and add a couple of drops of dishwashing detergent. As the kids use dishes during the day for breakfast, lunch and snacks, they drop them into the water. I will come through several times during the day and pull them out and load them into the dishwasher. When it is full, we start it. This one sink full of water saves you having to run the dishwasher on pots and pans. Instead you can use a regular wash, because there are no stuck on foods. Everything has been soaked off in the sink! Your dishes get cleaner too!

Thanks for sharing. To conserve water, I usually use a glass of water when brushing my teeth. :D
