Electricity saver
I know, they look nice. But although light bulbs may look and feel romantic, the bright white light of flourescent lamps will save much more electricity. With light bulbs, you can't read long without hurting your eyes and so you would need a reading light. that will add more consumption. with white light, everything around the room would be lighted. no need for extra lamp.
bulbs are also warm, so if you are in tropical country, that would mean extra cooling. hehehe
and oh, please turn off lights when not in use please. thank you!

indeed, here we use compact fluorescent lamps as well. I saw alot of discussions and it looks like you are someone who wants to save up the nature :P nice to know that people do care. I also have a tip...if you have any 1 side printed papers, save them to use the other clean side as a rough paper. You can scribble, draw,...I use it to practice my math calculations and save alot of monney than buying a package of looseleafe paper each year + we save more trees from being cut down as well :P

sounds like a great plan, if you are building a house. We've talked a little about perhaps trying to do some updates to ours, but I don't know how much it would cost to do do modernization and how much it would save.

Hi Spoiled, I only use the compact florescent bulbs at my house. the ones that are curly looking, they do nt look very nice, but do save energy, and last a very long time. They do not get hot at all. you can touch them and they will not even burn you. I have been using these for about 5 years. The weatherization people came to my house and put them i, and i have been useing them ever since.
