another energy saving tip. if you live in temperate countries, put a screen on your doors and windows to prevent insects from bothering you at night. then, open the windows wide to let the breeze in. that way, you wouldn't need to use an electric fan to sleep or worse an air conditioner. if you are planning to build a home, include wide windows and position your home in such a way that the wind can flow freely in. good day!

I live in Canada so I don't know if it's a bit similar to the US. Whenever it is summer, we keep the door and windows closed to not let the hot breeze to invade the house. We have this huge machine ...I don't know what it is called actually. We have holes in the walls throughout the house and the air is going through and out to be cleaned and filtered. It came with the house when we bought it and it also control the amount of heating required during winter so we save alot of monney on electricity bills. However, we do leave the window open when it's night since the air is a bit cooler. Just like you, we have a mosquito net or screen to prevent all the flies and blood suckers to come in. :P

I wish I could take your advice. I live in southern Arkansas (USA) where the temps reach the 100's and the humidity as high as that! The air conditioning is a fact of life...expecially in July-August

well, thx for the tip. i have ever entered a house which was designed by an airflow specialist. it was like magic. you won't fell hot in the big two floor house with no fan and aircon all. he designed the house in such a way so the air can flow freely in the house.

Thanks for the tip. I pretty much do this from March-June where I live(Virginia). I leave the doors and windows open, and even when it is hot outside, since I live on the ground floor of my apartment building, it is shaded. This saves me at least $250 a year, just on air conditioning alone.
