Okay so the last time I had a shower was Monday morning before I went in the hospital. I am aloud to take a shower but not aloud to to put my arms up. So how can I wash my hair? Hmmmm? And my husband is working and said dont take a shower till tommorrow when he is home. I guess he can get in the shower and wash my hair for me. Right? I just cant wait to get washed. Whats the longest youve gone without a shower or bath?

When I was a carnie I went a couple weeks without one actually. We did wash daily but the water we had avaiable was just a hose hooked to a nearby fire hydrant so it was ice cold water. not easy to get clean when you're shivering from icy water. Once or twice a month a lot of us carnies would share the cost of a local hotel for a few days so we had a soft bed and shower to use. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

For a couple years after I had stopped working for the carnival/circus bussiness I took semi warm showers actually due to being so used to the coldness. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I can't imagine ever getting used to the cold water. See also, my response 'above' regarding sponge baths.

I'm glad that you've decided to wait for your hubby ... this seems the safest way to me. For me, I guess the longest is when I used to go to a 'very primitive' cottage many years ago. They had to haul water from the lake, and there certainly was no shower (or bathtub.) Sponge baths just aren't the same, and I was there for a week.

For wuite a few years that was all dad got were sponge baths from me and they do a decent job but not fully clean. I hated the bending over with my bad back and now he pays for a bath from outside sources weekly. He sits in the shower and they help him with areas he can not do. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You're right. I'll never forget that cottage experience. Wonderful to have a hubby like that! I can relate to this, Grandpa Bob, as I was once in a 'stovepipe cast' on my left leg, and could only have sponge baths for over six weeks ... just not the same. I'm glad for both of your sakes, that your dad is getting this outside help.

The last time I had a shower wasthe end of March! i have absolutely NO hot water pressure in my shower and to take a shower it would have to be a cold one. It takes a long time to run bath water because it runs so slow. I guess a week camping was the longest without a shower or bath. We did wash up but it just isn't the same.

I've also gone a week without a shower while camping. It is much worse than sitting at home. Your body gets really sweaty from hiking around with a heavy backpack.

I don't know what the longest I've gone without showering is, but I hate not taking a shower every day, or at least every other day. My hair gets all greasy and gross.. ew. I'm sorry you haven't showered in so long . If I were you I would probably run a bath and pour some soap in it and then swish around in it lol and then turn the shower on and just rinse. Lol I don't know.

I had sponge baths, and my daughter washed my hair in the kitchen sink for me, for almost a year... I was in hip-high casts on my right leg. I was casted for almost 3 years, but I could put a trash bag over the shorter ones... it was no fun, no matter what.

A week is the longest time without shower for me. I was very happy when i got the chance to shower because it was on a summer camp where you had to run pretty much.

Quite some time ago I had major surgery and wasn't allowed to take a shower or bath for four days. I could sponge off but that was it. Boy was I glad when I was allowed to take a shower. Nothing ever felt so good in all my life. It made me appreciate the little things of life. That was the only time I had to wait that long to take a shower or bath.

It's so good to see you back terry, I can't even notice that you need a shower LOL Hubby washes my hair all the time. We tend to take a shower together every time we can and he always washes my hair:) As for the longest time without a real shower.. I think that would have been about 20 something years ago. We went camping allover Europe and we stayed at this beach for almost two weeks, but there were no washrooms or anything, just one lonely tap close by. So we were almost two weeks without a proper shower. Truth be said we were always in the water - but it was sal water LOL IN any case I think we were pretty clean all things considered :) And it was worth because it was a beautiful place although a bit out of the way - we actually found it by chance. The next village was about 6 Kms and the next house about 2.We were the only ones in there, plus another group of kids camping a bit further.

Terry i totally understand how you feel on this one! I was lucky when I had my surgery as the nurses would come in and help me shower as well as washing my hair for me. Ever since though if I have a bath or shower I have needed my other half there as my balance isn't very great and I have fallen more than once - it is a real pain not to just go for a shower/bath whenever you feel like it. At one point my other half was working such long hours that i had to gop without a shower for a week instead just washing down at the bathroom sink - boy did I enjoy the next shower i had! lol xxx

Poor you! I hate not showering! I hope you get better soon and i suggest that you shout lie down in a bth and attach something to a back scratcher, place it in the bottom of the bath and move up and down? I'm not too sure. Once again, I hope you get better soon!

about three weeks when I had had a shoulder joint replacement 'as I could not lift my left arm to wash my hair or to wash myself really. As even with physical therapy I did not get back much use of my left arm I have since coped and use my right arm and hand to shampoo my hair and to shower. at first after coming home from the hosppital I did not think I could do those things but found out I could do a lot more than I thought. But again my surgery was much less complicated than yours. hope your hubby can wash you hair for you. I am sure he will not mind and oh it will feel soooo good believe me.

phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!! I was wondering what that smell was in here. lol j/k my friend. I know you must feel yucky not being able to take a shower and hope hubby can help you out asap for your own well being. The longest I've ever been w/o a shower was 2wks. I took a 2wk. vacation long time ago and did some serious backpacking. Yup, all the essentials were carried on my back for 2wks. while I hiked the I&M canal here in IL. Would of only taken me a week but I took my own sweet time and spent a few days in a couple of the parks along the route. It was just me and my bud, Briar and we had a blast. Met some interesting ppl as well. Think those 2wks were the most times I've ever had my pic taken as well. lol I lost count after the 51st pic that someone took of me and my Lab. He even carried his own food.

I guess I could go on for 5-6 days, but it all depends on your phisiology. In no case, being tired is an excuse for laziness though :)
