Are cats good for your health?

Do you think that cats are good for your health? This is a question for anyone who loves cats and is not allergic to them. Obviously if you are allergic to cats, then maybe they're not so good for your health. I've always wondered if cats were beneficial for health. I've heard that dogs can help lower blood pressure and reduce stress in humans. But, I've also noticed a similar effect from my cats. Whenever my cat sits on my lap, I feel very relaxxed and almost fall asleep. Most times I'm high energy and full of stress. And, it's often hard for me to go to sleep. I just can't turn my brain off. When my cat sleeps on my bed, I have no problem falling asleep. So, I guess cats have a way of pulling that stress and tension off of a person. Do your cats do that for you? Have you found that your cats make your life better? Or, have been beneficial to your health in some way?

As Ive said in my earlier discussion, I dont care so much of cats and dogs like you do. But when we were still young and we live in our place we do care for dogs and cats, but we dont care for them like the way you care for them. Like any other animals or pets I in particular dont go closer to them. if it helps you relieve your stress then its good. But many are allergic to cats.

I don't like any kind of pet, like dogs, cats, pigs,...I have no patients to take care of them, they will die if I take them.

I think all animals are beneficial to a persons health. I think they are good for children as well. Animals help them learn responsibility. We have a puppy and I can tell a difference when he is around to.

I think having pets in general is good for a person's health. I have 3 dogs and a cat. They do help me relax and get rid of stress. My small dog was especially helpful when I was still working, because it seemed like I was always stressed out about something then!

I think cats are very good for your health. That is why some assisted living homes allow you to have a cat and you can bring a cat to a nursing home to take around to let the residents pet. They claim that people who have a loving pet will love longer so I do think it is beneficial.

Any kind of pet could somehow be therapeutic. But as far as i know cats can predispose especially the pregnant mothers to acquire an illness called Toxoplasmosis. It would cause abnormalities to the growing child in the womb. Im not sure if all cats has that bacteria. Usually its source is from the manure of the cat or other animal but more common in cat. http://petitmal86.blogspot.com/

Hi, I think any pet can be beneficial to one's health. Irregardless of hygiene or allergies, it is the emotional component which makes them so beneficial. The companionship that a cat/pet brings is what makes them so great to have around. cheers,
