Eating out or dining in

There are opinions on both sides here. Some like eating out - no dishes, someone serving you - maybe food you wouldn't normally have. And if you're my husband you love Buffets...all the food you can eat. He always comes away saying that he shouldn't have eaten so much! Some like eating at home. No crowded restaraunts - no need to pay for the meal. No waiting, have it when you want. Eat in the comfortable confines of your own home. So - these are two views I've heard. What's your stance? Which do you prefer and why?

My stance is a little of both. I love take out or delivery.I like ordering a pizza and have it delivered. That way I don't have to cook, I don't cook anyway. You have to good food and you have the comfort of home.

I would love a pizza right now - I'd eat it cold and have it have it for several meals. Is too hot to want to cook!

We generally try to eat at home as much as we can. Lately, though, we've had house guests, so we haven't been eating at home much at all. Luckily this week, my fiance cooked last night, and his dad offered to cook tomorrow night, so that's less dining out than we might otherwise do this week. Of course, when I travel I have to dine out, so that's usually my chance to try new things, or go to restaurants that my fiance doesn't like. But given my choice, I think I'd rather have home cooked meals!

Being that I stay at home most of the day taking care of my father I am sick of being cooped up inside. So I prefere to eat out as much as possible. I also prefer a sit down restaraunt with a wait staff. Not a fast food place like McDonalds etc. I like to be waited on and the food brought to me. I like buffets but not too often. I like being waited on the most. Now there are foods my wife cooks that I love and would rather have than going out but... HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I can understand that. After taking care of someone else, you'd like to be taken care of a little too, I'd bet. And cabin fever can really get to you - or some get so used to it they become agoraphobic. As always - love seeing you Grandpa Bob!

This is a tough one. I like eating out sometimes because when we eat out, we usually eat at restaurants that serve food we wouldn't eat at home because we do not fix it. However, sometimes those places we eat at are fast food restaurants where we could have fixed that type of food at home so I'm not sure what the big deal is. Either way, I could eat out or in. Sometimes home cooked food is great especially when you can share it with a loved one.

So you're fairly happy either way? I think that's good, I agree, as long as those we care about are around us, where we take our meal shouldn't matter too much. :)

Eating out certainly brings more dishes to my attention than I would be able to cook myself. But I don't ever find as many healthy dining options on a menu than I could cook for myself. And that is the only reason I would prefer dining in. If there were more healthy menu items available, I would say eating out.

Yes, although it beats doing dishes and cooking yourself, you can't control what ingredients are put on your plate. My grandmother mistrusted restaraunts for health reasons, and if her family had to be out during mealtimes, she'd make sandwiches.

Truthfully I prefer eating in because I think alot of times restaurant foods all taste the same. I don't live to eat so I hate wasting money going out to eat when I can cook something small for myself at home. I do like treating myself to a special meal though once in a while a prefer to go to restaurants where I know the quality of the food.

I like to try different foods like my husband, different then the usual things I eat. However, like you, money is an issue. For me its the idea that you eat it and its gone, while if you save the money you can buy books or something that lasts - materials for scrapbooking or some craft maybe!
