Do you have patience to wait years for results?

When we first moved into our house, twenty years ago, we decided to get a quick start on some things, and one of the things we planted was asparagus. It was good to get an early start as it takes at least four years before you can pick it.. unless you like asparagus like toothpicks that is! Unfortunately we planted it on a border and later found out the farmer who has the fields around us, sprays the fields.. so the border spot isn't all that great though we do still get a little asparagus each year from there. What I've done since is each fall plant some of the seeds in a better location (sunny of course as they love lots of sunlight). And now a few years later I have a new patch which I picked a little from this year.. but am still letting it mostly just grow for the most part, as it's still a bit skinny.. and each year you don't cut it, it gets thicker the next year.. This patch took longer than four years, what with being started from seeds! But then, it didn't cost me a thing, except a little weeding! Are you patient? Would you, or have you done a project something like this which takes some time for reults?

Well, I do not know about this amount of time at all. Just tell them that either cow manure or compost will make things grow nicely. In order to learn all about composting, just simply go to the certain website: www.compostumbler.com. OK? This company sells machines that does the composting. Let me know what you think. OK?

I can't handle waiting for fruits or veggies that I grow. I pruned my red rasberries back as if you do this every other year they produce more fruit. So this year I doubt that I will have as many as last year to be picking and eating. I will have some off the new shoots that sprang up but not like last year. But next year, qoo hoo hopefully.

I'm chicken to prune our blackberry bushes! Maybe I'll try doing just a few! That would be in the fall right?

Whenever I get my own home again, that's one of the things I'm going to plant. I don't like asparagus myself, but my husband loves it, and of course it's not cheap to buy in the stores.
I know I'd have the patience, because I'd be growing other things too that would take a much shorter time to mature. I've got beans, cukes, tomatoes and peppers growing in containers now.
Enjoy your asparagus - they'll get there eventually!

Well, I do not think it would take years for crops to grow. Well, you would need lots of cow manure to grow crops. Right? What I would think of for you is COMPOST. You can learn all about composting. The website that tells you all about it is: www.compostumbler.com. That company is really awesome and sells their machines that does the composting in couple weeks. Please let me know what you think.

Some things are definetly worth the wait! Asparagus is one of those :-) I have an asparagus plot and I try and add some new plants every few years so I can enlarge the plot of it. I'm the only one here who likes it, but still it would be nice to have enough to put up for the winter. Gee, I never started any from seeds, just from smaller starts of it. Will have to try that! That would keep me in creamed asparagus on toast for a long time lol.
