I love Dean Koontz! He has been my favorite author for quite some time now. But, I think I have found his equal. Her name is Sherrilyn Kenyon! She likes to write about the world of Gods and Demons and the different branches of each. She weaves terror and passion together like no one else I have come across and, I love it! I am eating it up like my favorite ice cream (Edy's Peanut Butter Cup for those of you who don't already know that...lol).
I read my first book by her over the weekend. Actually, I started it Friday and finished it Saturday. It is Dream Chaser and it was phenomenal!
How about you, my fellow myLotians? Are you familiar with Sherrilyn Kenyon and her work?

LOL! Sorry about the ice cream. If I could, I would buy some for you and send it!
As far as Sherrilyn Kenyon, she weaves together horror, the creepy factor and passion. And trust me, I don't like lame romance novels either. What Sherrilyn does with the romance in her books is nothing short of steamy. I wouldn't put her in the category of romance novel though. But, she sure does know how to incorporate it in with the thrill of horror.
I will give you a little bit of summary on Dream Chaser. The main characters are Xypher who is condemned but gets a one month reprieve from his eternal torture in Tartarus. His main goal is to track down and kill the one responsible for his condemnation. But, soon after his release, he finds himself bound to a human on Earth. If he and Simone, the human woman whom he finds himself bound to, get too far away from each other, they will both die. There are twists and turns and, even their twists and turns have twists and turns. Xypher is half God half Skotos or Dream Chaser. You will find out what all that means as it is explained in the book. I don't do the book justice in my description so, my suggestion would be to either go to the library or the book store, pick it up and read a few pages of it! I think it will have you hooked right away!
The reason I think she and Dean Koontz are so similar is that, they both have me glued to their stories immediately. They both sort of deal with the supernatural or just really out of the realm of possibility type characters and, they are so fast paced and fun to read. But, where they differ is that Dean Koontz uses supernatural and crazy demonic stuff but doesn't tend to walk on the side of passion and romance while Sherrilyn Kenyon uses Mythology as her medium and marries passion into the story in a way that might have you looking for you Baby Daddy if you can tear yourself away from the book for a little, or a long, while! LOL!
So, get it! I think you will enjoy it! And, if you don't, I will be surprised!

I forgot to tell you, Dean Koontz has another new book out tomorrow. It is Odd Hours which is the next in the series about Odd Thomas. Have you ever read any of the series about Odd? I love that character. And, Christopher Snow. But, the last time Dean did anything about Christopher Snow was about, or more than, a decade ago. He is supposed to be finishing up the latest book in the Christopher Snow series sometime late this year. He has been writing it for nearly a decade! So, given how long it has taken him to write that one, I hope that it is good! LOL!
Anyway, maybe when you go out to look for Dream Chaser by Sherrilyn Kenyon, look for Odd Hours by Dean Koontz (out tomorrow).

Good Afternoon Cortjo, no this is one author that has flown under my radar. I adore Kootz as well, so now that I have your recommendation I shall have to look for her. I am in need of new reading material. I tend to read the same authors that are my favorites exclusively, and get myself in a reading rut.

Hello AW! She flew under my radar too until I just picked her book up, read the summary and then the first 2 pages and was hooked. I try not to get into a reading rut. Koontz is and will probably always be my favorite author but, every now and then I will find a gem. Sherrilyn Kenyon, from what I can tell, has a bit of a cult following and, after having read Dream Chaser, I can see why. She really is gifted at providing enough detail to give you the gift of imagery while you are reading. She provides everything you need to fall in love with the main characters and to keep the book practically glued to your hand from start to finish. In fact, I didn't want it to be over when I finished it. I didn't want to let it, or the two main characters go yet. I wanted more and hope that she will have more with those two characters in the future.
If you get it, let me know what you think about it! And, her!

I have a few Dean Koontz on my collection but I never heard of Sherrilyn Kenyon. I find Dean Koontz writing style sleek, and so far, you claim that he has a female equivalent. Are they destined together? LOL Seriously, I think I should check that author out. It should really be phenomenal because Dean Koontz' was. Anyhow, goodluck to your future endeavors.

LOL! Dean Koontz is a genius! He always manages to keep me enthralled. And, I do think that Sherrilyn Kenyon is his equal. They don't so much follow the same content so much as they are both so thrilling. Dream Chaser captivated me like any and every Dean Koontz novel I have ever read!
BTW...Dean has a new book out today. It is Odd Hours which is the newest edition to the Odd Thomas series. I will be getting it once I get out of work today!
Give Sherrilyn a shot and, let me know what you think about her!

I like Dean Koontz too, he is an excellent writer. I have never heard of Sherrilyn Kenyon, but I will keep an eye out for her work as I love those types of books.
I have only just recently started to find the time to read again and so I am slowly finding my way back into it, I am a bit out of touch of who is who. Although I need to get my hands on the last book that Martina Cole wrote, she is a gangster, underworld type writer and her books are great if you like that sort of thing.
I have every single book of hers apart from the last one so I must get it!!

I love to read. Before I found myLot, I was reading upwards or 2 and 3 books a week. LOL! Yes...I had a lot of spare time both at work and home. Well, that and I would sometimes immerse myself so deeply into a book that I forgot to notice what time it was and would forget about bed time! LOL!
I might have to check out Martina Cole. Could be something I might like. As for now, I have 10 books waiting to be read. Well, 9 waiting to be read and I am reading #10 right now! LOL! I will need a new bookshelf soon because I am almost out of room and, I haven't wasted the space at all. My books are in my book shelf 2 deep. So, on each shelf, I have one row of books and then in front of those, a second row and, I have stacked other books on top of the tops of those books! And, I probably only have room for about 6 or 7 more books! Sheesh! Maybe I just need to buy a library! LOL!
