Are you formally debing? Is this a tradition in your home country? I think we all have very different traditions so it is important to start with the traditions and then work from there. I am from the South (US). Debutants or Debs in this part of the country have a very rich tradition depending upon the culture you come from. I was the first daugher in my family to refuse to Deb. I regret it now but back then it seemed the right thing to do. So what are the traditions for your country and your family? Question 2 What do you want to do to make it your own?

Yes, it's a tradition here in the Philippines...IN debuts, there are the 18 roses, 18 candles, 18 treasures.. I'd like to stray away from the traditional debut formal party and have it held at a restobar where people can really party!! I'd like to have a short program as well. :)

We do things a bit differently in the US as you might guess, so hard to advise you. But I think the first step would be to sit with your parents, who I assume are paying; ask them your budget and how comfortable they are with something non-traditional. Remember what I said about regretting not going with my family and cultural traditions? I really believe that that you can follow traditions and still make things your own.

When are you going to celebrate your debut? Are you going to celebrate it in tradional or non-traditional debut? Do you already have your events coordinator? Actually we are coordinating parties and events. If you wish to you can visit our website at www.revealevents.tk or email us at reveal.events@gmail.com If you need help just approach us. In my case I've celebrated my debut in non-traditional sense and I made it like a children's party with a Tweety motif. There were games, dance and song number. My gay friends dance Lady Marmalade.

I have had a great one almost twelve years ago. It was held in one of the big hotels here in our place. It was one of the best things that ever happened to me. My friends were there. Some really special people are there. Well, it was more like the traditional debuts that we know of. Good luck to you my friend on your 18th birthday!

mylot.com - my first mylot picture!
so when is your debut? don't ask of my debut it was years ago already and i had the old type of debut party (boring!). well your motif will really depends on what you like. my cousins' seems to be quite unique. her motif is maong. so therefore she herself was dress in gown made in maong. and all the guests were in jeans too. if you like semi-funky style you can do that too.

I had my debut 11 years ago. My debut is really a simple one. I celebrated it on a fine restaurant. Just the usual thing, I had my 18 roses, of course my first dance was my father. My motiff was peach, so my friends flooded the room with peach roses. My aunt gave me a 3 layered cake, with peach colored design. We rented a mobile for the sounds, because after the dinner there is a disco.... I was so touched when a good friend of mine (my crush) rendered a song for me. I was so surprised coz, I thought he wouldn't come, but he did come. I didn't even see him walk through the door. When the night ended, I was still ecstatic, I thanked all those who came and gave them souvenirs that I made.

Well, I have attended a few, mostly from those in my high school batch. One among them as a surprise debut party for the debutant which was really interesting. I don't know why swimming became common on parties on some of those that I have attended... Let's see... the motif should go with your liking. The surprise debut party I mentioned had a Hawaian and it went well since, after all, who wouldn't like to be surprised on their debut? You want a program in your debut, as it often does with roses and gift and what else should there be in debuts? Wouldn't it be nice if you and 18 dances knew how to break dance? just kidding on that part. Aside from that, everything else goes with other things like availability of foods and drinks. You consider the capacity of the venue as well as the number of guests that you are going to invite. If the venue has an available kitchen big enough to store food for later events, that's nice all the same. I think I've also attended one wherein they also considered the age of the guests for a particular reason.. for foods and drinks maybe? Do guys also celebrate debuts? What do they call it?

Hi! I've celebrated my debut 3 years ago. It was held in Edsa Shangri-La's Garden Ballroom. It was the traditional one with 18 candles, treasures and roses. I had a debut planner who coordinated with my photographers, videographers, florists, make up artist and the events manager of the hotel. My theme was MidSummer Night's Dream and oh, my avatar was during my debut. I had 2 gowns, the blue one was my 2nd. My first was like fuschia pink. Anyway, if you might want to take a look at my planner's events, just PM me and I'll send you the link. :)

Sorry, vianneyanzu, I can't give you some ideas on how to celebrate your 18th birthday. But you can invite me to the party so I will not be a gate-crasher...
