Would you eat under-cooked food?

Several times in my life, I've had food poisoning. Once when I was about two years old, my mom cooked fish sticks that she'd left in the fridge and then refrozen. Me and my brother got horrible food poisoning and were so sick for ages. Or, at least, that's what I hear. I don't remember the whole sordid mess. Anyway, the other time I was sick from food poisoning was just before Christmas about a decade ago. I was making homemade brownies (from the box, as if there were any other way to do it). And, I ate some of the uncooked fudge brownie mix. It was so delicious. A few days later, I got a really bad case of flu. Later I learned that sometimes you have salmonella poisoning and you just think it's the flu. I didn't go to the hospital, but I felt lousy. So, I'm pretty sure that was caused by eating raw eggs (which can cause the salmonella virus and so can uncooked raw chicken). The brownie mix tasted good. But, was not so good for me. Ever since then I've tried to be super careful when cooking. Pretty much, I over cook everything. My spouse won't let me cook beef for him, cause it ends up looking and tasting like a charcoal briquette. But, better to be safe than sick. And, I try to cook or throw out food if it's past it's expiration date. I don't like to be wasteful, but we can't really (monetarily) afford to get sick. Would you eat under cooked food? Do you over cook your food just to be safe?

that would highly depend on the food. some foods are ok to eat a little undone...like steak or hamburgers...so long as the right core temperature was reached and maintained the right amount of time. thats the safety temp. Yeah...never eat raw batter either. really bad idea. too many diseases that you can get from that. always fully cook your meals even if you think its fully cooked...check the temp in the middle of whatever your cooking. if it hasn't been reached don't eat it. and to your throwing away of food thats expired, mom always said "when in doubt, throw it out"

Never! Well, it depends actually. Vegetables I like them a little over than half-cooked. But regarding meat, fish, eggs I can't eat them half cooked. You know the sunny side up egg? Most people like it with the eggyolk raw but I would never eat it like that as it feels slimy in the tongue. Regarding meats when I see red blood right in the bones I refuse to eat them either. You're right, better be safe than sick.

Under cooked food i will not eat. It had to be cooked completely before i will eat it. I have not gotten food poisoning before and i know that it's not a nice feeling. Even with food from the grill i have to make sure that it's cooked all the way through. Even if it gets burnt on the outside i at least know that the inside is done. You have to be careful with that. Food poisoning is not joke. Be safe.
