Do you use any container of the things you buy for keeping some other things?

I do..I do..I do.
My husband used to think I was crazy (when we were first married) and I would collect all the bottles and boxes to store other things at home.....till he realized I was saving so much money not buying more containers...lol
And then he sees my mother doing the same...and he realized that it runs in the family too...lol
I like the box that cadbury chocolates come in (assorted). And I also have a lovely box of imported swiss chocolates (it was a gift from someone and I loved the container more than the chocolates). Then there was another box with a cartoon on it (I think that's Cadbury's too) and it's got a hook where it can be hung up too....I've used it to store erasers (I buy in bulk before school starts...lol...he ends up losing one everyday!)
Want to see a container collection? Come over to my place.

The best of the things I ever had have always come in the best and the most beautiful containers.I just cannot Ricard them.My brother in in law has bought me a scotch in a wooden container. It looked so manly I still keep it to store my hammer and nails.
I have uploaded the image of that box for you.

I love to reuse containers for storing food. To me it is cheaper than going out and buying containers that are just for storing. I did that for a while at our local $0.99 store, but found that those containers were kind of cheap and hard to open and close. We all know that the Glade and Rubbermaid products can be quite expensive.

I am a container fanatic! I love containers (but not especially plastic ones)
I like to keep glass jars and tin boxes and wooden crates and boxes
even the most simple to me are the most elegant.
my buttons are in a green mason jar with bail lid
my mother kept her's in a round cookie tin
I keep all sorts of grain and beans in jars as well - from pint to gallon.

I always do that... i remeber buying a box of chocolates because the box was so pretty... i used it to put all my teaching stuff... like pens and pencils, eraser, chalk, and small papers... i even keep my coins of some tin cans that previously had candy in them... this sort of thing is like a collection hobby for me...

When I was little we were liiving in this really small apartment and my mother was throwing away each box and each container. I was always thinking that she was doing it because there was no room in the house for unnecessary things. But then when I got little bigger, when I was 9, we moved in this really big house where my parents still live and my mother still throws away containers and boxes. I collect them, specially glass pots and shoe boxes. I make jams and put them in the pots and boxes are always needed if you want your stuff to be in order. Here in Italy for Christmas we eat a spiacial cake called PANETONE and I bought one just because it had this great tin container. 6 months after I still don't know what to put in it but I had to buy it then.

Bala, oh how I wish to keep those cake and candy boxes forever. Now they come in different packages, may be in a better one but I would love the old ones. Old brings back fond memories and I love to go back to my kidhood days every time possible.
Yes I do have one last tin, round cake box where I have been keeping my girly stuffs since ages and another same one my mom keeps her needles and sewing stuffs. We both cannot part with it.

I use food containers when they are empty. I always over cook when I can so I can put a portion or two in the freezer for when we have a bad week financially. It saves me money in the long run. They are not usually fancy or pretty containers, just plain white ones. :-)

I've been known to choose a brand of foodstuff just because the container will be useful again afterwards. I've chosen products in resealable plastic tubs or glass jars for that reason..
I don't think I've currently got any boxes that I've kept because they're pretty though. You get lots of that sort of thing around at Christmas time, packed with bath or kitchen treats. The boxes are one of those things which you feel dreadful about throwing out as they're so lovely, yet just end up cluttering up your house!
