Protestors at Political Campaign Speeches

What do protestors expect to accomplish when they go to a political campaign for their opposition? I just watched a video of Senator McCain's speech being interrupted by protestors who were immediately escorted out. They were wearing pink aprons and singing "McCain's in the Kitchen with Bush". Any idea what these people were accomplishing or trying to accomplish? Or do these people just want attention?
