Would you like to travel by airship?

I don't mean a little blimp, I mean if a company built the modern equivalent of one of the great old luxury airliners like the Hindenberg and flew it across the Atlantic or whatever, would you like to book a trip on it? I think it would be great, like taking a luxury cruise but in the air.

I don't think I would take this risk.As it is Air travel is dangerous even with the modern technology installed in planes. So with an airship the danger is only amplified manifold. So i wold prefer not to travel in it.

Fair enough, although I don't see any reason for a modern airship to be more dangerous than a plane. Thanks for replying.

It would be nice, if they would make them safe. Their tendency to go up in flames is the reason why they are not around anymore. There is a company in Germany that started building them again and they claim they are using a non-flammable method to keep the zeppelin in the air.

That would be helium, which is almost as light as hydrogen but is completely non-flammable. I think it's used in all blimps etc these days.

You must get the Popular Science magazine. There is an article in there this month about recreating one of these as a template, and possibly having them work like cruise ships in the air by 2020. As for your actual question, I'm not sure. I would have to give it a few months to make sure they are safe. There is no way I would get up in one on the inaugural flight. I'm not really scared of heights, but there's a limit to my adventurous spirit. I think if they stay around though, I will eventually break down and get on one.
