This is a shot of the everbloom variety of strawberry I planted mid last week. It has started to turn red already. We are hoping this will send shoots out as well as our June bloom strawberries have. Have you any everbloom strawberries planted? Have you planted 2 varities together in the same area without problems? I don't think it will be a problem but I am not sure. I can't wait to sink my teeth into some fresh, sweet juicy home grown strawberries this summer.

I need to have a home near you in the summer. Our strawberry season in Florida is already over. The blueberries and blackberries are starting to come in, but will be over the end of June. Then I would like to follow the berry trail north! When your strawberries get ripe, enjoy a bowlful for me. They are my favorites!

Speaking of blueberries. At the store Saturday here in Minnesota they were like $9 for a small container. Grrr!

Well honey I can't help but think how much I would like to be there when you are eating all those delicious strawberries! Wish I could tell you more about growing different varieties but all I can say is I think it should be fine - I am sure my Grandad used to do that with lots of things! xxx

I have never grown strawberries, I think they are too intimidating.. I may have to try some soon.. I do love good juicy strawberries and just bought some last week at a local flea market.. I bit into one and just one drop of juice spilled on my blouse, thankfully it was a black blouse, because it smelled so good all day long, I didn't change my blouse that day.. I kept putting the spot up to my nose as it was the sweetest smell and the sweetest strawberry that I have ever tasted..

They are so simple to grow as they spread like crazy. I let the shoots run wild and don't try to make the grow in a certain area. I alos do not pinch the blloms the first year like suggested. Mine have done well. Heres the rest of my patch from a shot taken this afternoon. That had to be funny looking seeing you sniffing your blopuse. I would have said something seeing that action.

Those look so good. I love strawberries. I'm in an apartment, but am thinking about getting pots to grow them in on the porch.
As far as cross-pollination between the plants, if it's strawberries or fruit that you are planting, just plant then a few inches further apart than you normally would(like 6in or so). If its something totally different A foot to 1 1/2 feet should be good.
If you are planting mint however, put that in a separate pot or separate bed. Mint strawberries sound interesting, but they are horrible(trust me on this one).

Thanks bunches. They sell basket strawberries that
grow in a basket like a vine. They work well I've heard. It's about 2 feet from the others in another corner.
I have mint about 20 fet away.

I do.. we've got the june bearers and some everblooms close together and I'm not sure I've figured them out yet.. though I do remember having a few strawberries showing up all year last year, when I didn't snip off the blossom that is, to encourage more shoots.. So I'm wondering a bit what will happen this year.. Now one side of the plot has many more blooms.. but I'll have to dig out our notes from last year to see which is which! Now where, just where might that be?

That's kool! How nice to share plants without even trying at the time! We have blackberries that stretch all along one border of our acre lot.. replacing that ugly quack grass and other not so attractive weeds.. Plus we love the fruit! Grand daughter and I will pick them together and she'll also pick some with her mom.. Any reason for them to outside is good! And they're easy to mow around as they're so plentiful I don't have to worry about it. And I like the way they look.. I have to rescue some hostas out from among them though! I wonder if the two types of strawberries will cross pollinate.. Oh well, we can call these our experiments.. and we'll see what happens won't we..

I think I need to move close to you. I can't believe you grow so much. As I said I kill everything I touch. I am holding my breath on the tomatoes, I potted them 3 days ago from seed. How long does it normally take to start getting sprouts? The package didn't say, and any tomatoes I have ever planted have been already potted and plants.
