My oldest grandson can be so cute at times and then at other times so mean. Well Sunday early evening his cute side came out. the phone rang and as I said hello he spoke so sweetly. "Grandpa remember when you said you'd take me to the races this year? When are you going to take me?" I have taken him to see the Green Mamba Jet Car brun a junk car on a local race track. I have taken him many times to the races when they have "Friday Night Eve IOf Destruction". Those are what he wants to see mainly as they have the Monster Trucks appearing and competeing. Just 2 or 3 at a time is all. But he loves it. So this Saturday is the day we will more than likely go dependingh iof the bills are paid and there's extra cash. I told my wife my birthday is Sunday and just give me cash to take him. Do you take your kids/grandkids to races at all? How about Monster Truck shows? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

few years aho I won a family pass to the melbourne gran prix (or whatewer its called) F1 so anyway my husband took different people on different days as it was for the whole duration. On the finals we took my nephew with us as my son was I belive 2 at the time or 3. It was the most boring day in my life as I do not enjoy that whats the fun of watching a very fast car zoom past you every few minutes. We had fun walking around taking pictures that sort of things. My nephew was about 10 at the time and he said it was ok but not something he would do often. I suposed if it was something like what you go to we would enjoy it more as there is more action.

I don't take my kids that many places but I do try- we used to go all sorts of places before I had trouble getting around though car racing isn't one of them - she would just get ideas and want to try it - she is a bit of an adrenalin junkie at 6 so goodness knows what she will be like when she is older! I sure hope you guys get to go at the weekend and think it is great that you want to get money for your birthday so you can treat your grandson - you Truly are AGB! xxxx

Luckily I have always loved sitting only a few rows up in the seats at the races. I can't climb those high steep steps like I used to. I figure I have to enjoy time with the grandkids while I am still semi-healthy. I guess I am an andredaline junkie as well. I've done bungee cord jumping, parachuting and a few other "wild" things in my years. Oh we are going one way or another. Tee hee. Thanks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM AGB !!~

My husband and I took our kids to a race in our town, because our son was in the race. I would like to take them to see the monster trucks at least once, but I don't see it happening any time soon. Hope you have lots of fun!

Now the youngest wants to go even though the loud noise bothers him and he always falls asleep. He has to go just cuz his brother is. Too cute. So they both go and stay the night Saturday then I guess. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I took my oldest daughter when she was little.. she is 23 now.. we were watching her dad race and all was good until his car got hit and she freaked out!! I couldn't get down to the track with her so we had to go back up in the stands and she was crying so hard no matter what I said it didn't calm her. When her dad finally appeared in the stands the fans let him have it for not coming to show his daughter he was OK. That was the end of our going to races*L* I think my daughters would like it so I will look into taking them this summer. I am sure you will have a great time with him this weekend.

That would be rough to have a family member racing and sitting there knowing that something deadly could happen at anytime. Why did he not come sooner to let her know he was okay? I always have a great time. I do discussions about each visit, with photos attatched as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I haven't yet. I do remember going with my Dad and Grandpa to a demolition derby once when I was young. I still have the plastic souvenir mug from track! Maybe someday I'll take my kids and/or grandkids. But right now we just enjoy letting all the kids play together.

Oh no---- grandpa calling his grandson mean! :( that is too bad.... I mean that he is mean to you. My mom takes my daughter lots of places---- and my grandparents used to take me to all kinds of places as well... but never to the races or to the monster truck shows- I bet my daughter would love the monster truck show though :) I hope you have a great time with your grandson-- and happy birthday Sunday

ah, they are enjoying life and so are you! with them. My father took us kids to the races frequently. I think the only thing I enjoyed of them as a child was what we called the Funny Cars - where all sorts of outlandishly painted junkers would race and ram into each other. I think that was the prelude to the actual serious race. This would have been in the late 60s through mid 70s

I take my sone to bike festivals where they usually have stunt riders and he likes to watch all the bikes but I cannot afford at the moment to take him to see any but we watch on TV and he enjoys. I also take him to air dispaly shows as he loves helicopters and aeroplanes and we have a free display in our area each year where the Red Arrows fly which he thinks is fantastic. One of my daughters goes drag racing with her father and in the past I have taken her banger car racing as one of my friends and my brother used to race. Its all good fun eh! Ellie :D

My kids pretty much grew up on fumes from the Michigan 131 Dragway. But my grands aren't really into it. I take them fishing a lot, though. They all love that, even the girls.
