I have been seeing that the wii has games that you can really get exercise playing bowling, etc. I just saw this past week that you can hula hoop, or dodge balls, etc. All of these were games for $100 approximately that give you lots of movement and exercise. I am wanting one but want to know if you really get this much exercise. I know they are using them in nursing homes and in rehab for those that need to improve their ability to move. I wanted something to make exercising fun. Are any one you doing this and enjoying it and getting much needed exercise?

My son just bought me a Wii for my birthday. I love it! Yes, you do get exercise, especially playing tennis! I was so sore the next day! (I do have fibromyalgia and lupus, so that could have added to it.) But, yes, you get exercise. My son advised me to buy some more Wii games that look fun but I haven't tried them out yet. You just have to make sure you have enough room or you'll end up hitting something (or someone)! It seems to be very good for the cardiovascular system. It got my heart pumping and my breathing was, well, fast. Seems I need more of this! I'd definitely advise getting one, if you can find one. They seem to be sold out minutes after hitting the shelves. Good luck!

The system I got cost $250.00. It comes with some games. I just bought a new game pack with another controller (2 in 1 package) for $50.00. It has Table Tennis, Fishing, Target Shoot (or something like that), Tanks, and a bunch of others I haven't even looked at yet. You do get a bunch of games for the money. P.S. If you know someone who works in a retail store that sells Wii's, ask them to put one aside for you. They REALLY do sell fast. The only reason I got mine when I did was because my son works at WalMart and grabbed one as soon as it was announced that they were on the shelves.

I believe y'all are selling me on the idea of a wii. I really am wanting one more and more. I am 53 years old and I think this would be so good of exercise for me to get me toned up and in better shape. Thanks for your post.

As long as you play it actively, it really helps. When I play mine, I really get into it. It raises my heart rate and causes me to break a sweat. The boxing one made my arms sore the following day when we first bought it. I was really not expecting that at all. After all, I have a 30+ pound toddler that I carry around without my arms being sore the next day, I didn't expect a video game to do it, but it sure did! I had trouble carrying Elliott the next day. lol
