Sunday I once again cooked dinner. Simple and easy and quick to cook. Had open flamed burgers, baked beans and potato chips. I mix my hamburger with one pouch of Liptons Onion Soup mix and one egg. No spices are there are plenty in the onion soup mix. I also prefer the very fatty beef like 70/30 as the grease drips into the flames and flares up giving the burgers a char broiled flavor we all love. So did you BBQ this weekend? How do you make your burgers? Plain patties or any secrest spices etc added in them?

MMMM - you were meant to give me time to get there for the next bbq AGB! Well just don't forget me next time - I would never have thought of adding soup mix to the burger meat but that is a good idea! i add different spices but I do love making burgers with pork and grated apple - really delicious. Not had a barbecue yet this year - hope we have one soon! xxx

Hey GB I moved down to Mexico a few years ago and when we BBQ we take an onion or 2 or 3 and wrap them in foil and toss them on the fire turn them a few times and just remove the outer shell. sprinkle lime juice add some butter and salt. WOW thier good on the side. Give it a try! like your posts tdemex

Hmmm? That's sounds tasty as well as
a very likely chance of hallitosis.

That does sound good, I like the coated onions deep fried. So I would probably like this too. Man you are all making me hungry and here it is the worst time to munch, the middle of the night.

Oooohhh sounds so yummy! Hubby is the chef in our house, so he gets to cook almost all of the time. For any type of meat, usually his "secret ingredient" is the powdered ranch dressing. He just mixes it in with everything else and lets it marinate overnight. Tastes pretty darned good too. I just got him started on using another ingredient for his marinade...chunky salsa, like the kind you get in Mexican restaurants to dip your chips in. It is absolutely heavenly!

I have always been the cook mostly around here. My wife has been the bread winner most our lives together so I cooked. Mostly because she worked till 10 at night so she was at work while the kids were home at dinner time. Now that sounds good as a marinade.

Those burgers sound good. I will have to try that sometime. I did see something on television the other day about picking the right meat for your burgers. They suggested a 80/20 meat to fat ratio. I have not BBQ'd in a few weeks. I was going to do some chicken and corn on the cob on the grill for dinner tomorrow night though.

The egg holds the meat together when frying it on the grill. I like the 70/30 as I stated because the grease helps flame broil it. I have tried the 80/20 and it was okay. Now the 90/10 sticks to the grill all too much braking it in pieces.

Sunday, we barbecued chicken, which I love!
Typically, when I make our burgers, I make them the same as you, but I add Worsteshire sauce to mine. Yummy!!!

I can't say it was a BBQ But I did have burgers yesterday my husband wanted to make me supper for my birthday, Something that he knew that was going to fill me up and no room for cake.. ha ha.. He made his right in the frying pan.. right now it just seems a bit cold to have a BBQ but when it starts warming up we will be having plenty of them for sure.. I love cooking outside.. But first we are going to need to get a cooker so we can... I never had a burger like that before either thanks for the idea!!

That sounds so good! How many pounds of hambuger meat per package of onion soup mix and one egg? I am going to have to try that. We didn't grill out this weekend. It's been a couple weeks since we did the last time. I think we are due for another.

My family likes their burgers basic, with a little salt and pepper. Most of the time this is how I make them, but once in awhile I make them the way I like. I like to add worshershire to the meat, patty it out and then put the s & p, with a little garlic, and seasoned salt. I think the worshershire gives the meat an awesome flavor, I also like to marinate my steaks in it.

I need to get our grill out and get it cleaned up. My husband works at a feedlot so we get our meat from the company it come directly from the butcher I dont' know how much fat is in it. My husband likes to put lawrys salt on his burgers if we fix them on the stove if we fix them on the grill we have flavored pellets that cook the flavor into the meat as we have a Traeger pellet grill instead of a regular charcoal grill.
